NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 18, 2014) — Yamaha's incredible Muppets-inspired green Disklavier grand piano will join Josh Groban on tour through the end of the month and is up for auction to the highest bidder at Charitybuzz.com to raise funds for VH1 Save the Music. To celebrate the recent release of Disney's Muppets Most Wanted on DVD and BluRay, Yamaha Entertainment Group is auctioning off the piano that has been signed by 18 members of the cast and crew including Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell, Tina Fey and Josh Groban.
The grand piano will be on public display at each of Groban's tour stops during the month of August. The singer was able to spend some time with the piano during a recent photo shoot for Yamaha Entertainment Group's magazine All Access, and even describes his memorable experience in a recent interview with USA Today. "I would sit down and get to know it, and it's just an awesome piano that's a one-of-a-kind color," he says.
Bidding for the almost $74,000 piece has already begun at Charitybuzz.com and is open through Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014 at 2 p.m. EST. Proceeds will benefit VH1 Save The Music Foundation, dedicated to improving instrumental music education programs in America's public schools. "This is a very special piano both in color and sound," says Josh Groban. "The only downside to owning it is my seething life long jealousy associated with that responsibility. It's not easy being green (with envy)."
