The Hub, Sophisticated Multimedia Resource, Solidifies Yamaha's Position As a Technological Leader in the Music Product Industry

BUENA PARK, Calif.—Yamaha Corporation of America has launched The Hub, a centralized, comprehensive information portal at that offers consumers and dealers a quick and easy way to access multimedia presentations about products from the company's three musical instrument divisions: Piano, Band & Orchestral and Pro Audio & Combo.
The Hub

"As the world's largest musical instrument manufacturer, Yamaha generates a lot of content to help explain what makes our products stand out," said Rick Young, Corporate Vice President and General Manager, Pro Audio & Combo Division, Yamaha Corporation of America. "The Hub is a major differentiator for us because it capitalizes on the interactive nature of the Web and helps us present our information more effectively."

Aggregating downloadable streaming video and audio, along with brochures and reference documents in PDF format, The Hub ( enables dealers and consumers to easily access product information in a variety of convenient formats.

Downloadable video and audio programs include product overviews, factory tours, performances, educational clinics and backstage interviews with prominent Yamaha Artists, along with free podcast subscriptions that deliver streamed content updates to iTunes. The podcasts can then be transferred to a range of devices, including an iPod, AppleTV, iPhone or other mp3 and video players. The site will also include a section dedicated to Yamaha Electronics Corp, which distributes quality home audio and video products.

The Hub employs a sophisticated program that uses an advanced, anonymous personalization design and coding system to "learn" how visitors interact with the site and subsequently determine what content might interest them, thus enhancing the online user experience.

Not only will the site serve as a central repository for sweepstakes and rebate offers, it will support and enhance banners, mailers and print ads to create truly multimedia ad campaigns – from print to mailer to web. A fast, free login process provides instant and unlimited entry to consumer areas, but is not required to view a large portion of the content.

Spearheaded by the Pro Audio & Combo Division's new Marketing Content Department, in collaboration with other Yamaha divisions, The Hub builds on the successful implementation of other recent trendsetting initiatives. Existing content will be incorporated into The Hub, along with the award-winning Yamaha Certified Sales Professional training program (YCSP), which recently marked the completion of its 30,000th session.

In addition, Yamaha's entire podcast-based YCSP dealer training program has been expanded and extended to the Pro Audio & Combo Division. The new program, Pro Audio and Combo Education, or PAC-E, will provide free online video training modules and certification for the PAC retail network.

"The Pro Audio & Combo dealer program will be accessible in a single screen interface within The Hub," said Jeff Hawley, Manager of Marketing Content, Yamaha Pro Audio & Combo Division. "The site also serves as a fantastic resource for authorized Yamaha dealers, who will be able to access Product Support Group training materials, like special dealer-only sneak-peeks of Summer NAMM 2008 products and programs, for example."
