Yamaha Handcrafts Limited Edition FG180-50th Model to Commemorate Vintage Red Label Guitars Prized by Collectors
ANAHEIM (January 21, 2016) — Yamaha today introduced the handcrafted FG180-50th model acoustic guitar in a limited edition of 180 units for the United States market. This special model pays homage to the iconic FG180, first released in 1966, which gained a solid reputation for delivering great value and a booming sound.
The popularity of Yamaha FG guitars has remained constant over the years and vintage models with the famous Red Label are sought after by collectors and influential young musicians seeking quality instruments. Each FG180-50th re-issue guitar bears a facsimile Red Label along with an historically accurate headstock, tuner, Yamaha logo and truss rod cover. These remade models also feature gorgeous solid sitka spruce tops treated with Acoustic Resonance Enhancement, a proprietary wood treatment process that replicates the rich tone of an instrument that has been played for years.
"This is where it all started for Yamaha Guitars – the birth of a legacy that has come to embody great quality and value," said Dennis Webster, marketing manager, acoustic guitars, Yamaha Corporation of America. "Many people today talk about the Red Label Yamaha they once had, but parted with, and the FG180-50th gives guitarists another chance to own a pristine, handcrafted version of the iconic model."
