7/4/2008 [Marching Instruments]2008 Alumni Corps Formed to Celebrate Cavaliers' 60th Anniversary; Ensemble to Perform at the 2008 DCI Championships
According to Cavalier Alumni Association Vice President Chris Hartowicz, "the Corps is proud to play Yamaha."
The Alumni Corps will be using Yamaha percussion exclusively. Included in their performances will be seven sets of multi-toms and eight marching bass drams all in the Silky-Silver finish. They will also use Yamaha brass instruments in their performances including mellophones, baritone horns and marching tubas.
Since the partnership between Yamaha Percussion and the Rosemont Cavaliers was forged in 1987, the celebrated corps has proudly carried Yamaha instruments. The Cavaliers have also lent their expertise to the testing of Yamaha percussion products in the rigors of an outdoor setting, and have contributed directly to the development of landmark offerings such as the MTS snare drum, the YM-2400 marimba, the YV-2700 vibraphone and the Multi-Frame I and Multi-Frame II. The Cavaliers have played Yamaha Brass since 2001 and have become known for their unique conceptual approach to brass pedagogy. The Cavaliers were the second Division I Drum Corps ensemble to switch to Yamaha Brass when the rules were changed to allow Bb instruments.
