Chops Percussion to Sell Exclusive Yamaha Drumline Used by Noted Drum and Bugle Corps

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Yamaha and Chops Percussion announce the sale of a custom drumline, used by the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps during the 2005 and 2006 summer seasons, to the public. These versatile drums deliver a clear and powerful sound that is appropriate for both indoor and outdoor marching activities.

The custom color featured on the battery is Deco Red, which is not available to the general public on any other drumline. The MTS-9214 snare drums feature chrome hardware, and the line comes with the 8200 Series Field-Corps Multi-Toms and Bass Drums. All Yamaha marching percussion is made using Yamaha's patented Air-Seal System, ensuring the drums start round and stay round, providing clearer tuning and a pure fundamental tone.

"The Crossmen had a great run with the current set of battery equipment," notes Executive Director of The Crossmen and Youth Education in the Arts, George Hopkins. "Show after show in all kinds of weather, including one hot Texas summer, the instruments performed just as we expected. We were pleased to have products produced by professionals, built to perform in all conditions, that enabled our members to perform at their best night after night."

The Crossmen were founded in 1975 and have been DCI finalists 22 times. They are currently a program under the umbrella of Youth Education in the Arts, which also includes the Cadets. The Crossmen frequently put on crowd pleasing shows featuring jazz and blues music, but have also performed other genres such as classical, Broadway, pop, Latin, and movie soundtracks.

This one-of-a-kind set of marching percussion will be available from Chops Percussion this summer to the first interested party. The entire drumline, which consists of 10 MTS-9214 snare drums, four multi-tom sextets (6", 6", 10", 12", 13", 14"), and five bass drums, one each of 18", 20", 24", 28" and 30" is available as a complete set only. Carriers are not included, but can be purchased separately at dealer-net prices. Yamaha will supply new Remo drumheads for the entire line and will honor the two-year Hoop-To-Feet warranty. This special offer is only available on a first-come, first-served basis.
