INDIANAPOLIS, (September 4, 2014) — Yamaha Artist Services Indianapolis announced the signing of the Los Angeles Percussion Quartet to the Yamaha Percussion Artist Roster.

The Grammy® Award-nominated quartet, comprised of Nick Terry, Matthew Cook, Justin DeHart and Cory Hills, has commissioned and performed percussive chamber music since 2009. Over the last five years, the group has performed at PASIC showcases, the Los Angeles Composers Project, the Fullerton Friends of Music concert series and art museums around the country.

Deeply committed to educational outreach, the quartet regularly presents workshops and master classes to young musicians at middle schools, high schools and universities, including the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the California Institute of the Arts and the University of Southern California.

“The Los Angeles Percussion Quartet brings a sense of creativity and innovation to the world of percussion that we are eager to support,” said John Wittmann, director of Artist Relations and Education, Yamaha Artist Services Indianapolis.

The quartet set the bar for innovation in percussion music with their 2012 Grammy Award-nominated release, Rupa-Khandha, the first ever 7.1 surround-sound, high-fidelity recording of percussion chamber music. The quartet is currently recording a follow-up album, which will feature works from Percussive Arts Society (PAS) Hall of Fame member William Kraft, along with other renowned composers.

“Our music features percussion instruments that embrace the entire spectrum of sound,” said the quartet in a statement. “In a typical large percussion array that utilizes multiple instruments, we thrive from the consistency of Yamaha’s attention to sonic detail, which allows each instrument to project and respond with exceptional nuance. Yamaha's hallmark lines of timpani, marimbas, vibraphones, concert bass drums, concert toms, snare drums and glockenspiels inspire us to take our music to the next level.”
