INDIANAPOLIS . (December 07, 2015) – Yamaha today announced that the application process for the 2016 Yamaha Young Performing Artists (YYPA) competition is now open.

Final applications are due by midnight, January 15, 2016. To apply and access the complete contest rules, please click here: http://4wrd.it/YYPA_2016_APPLY

Winners are chosen after submitting recordings and support materials, which are evaluated by a panel of Yamaha Performing Artists and national celebrity musicians. Winners will receive an all-expense paid trip to the YYPA Celebration Weekend, held in Muncie, Indiana at Ball State University during the Music for All™ Summer Symposium, June 25-28, 2016. Winners will have the opportunity to perform in front of thousands at the Symposium, attend workshops and clinics designed to launch a professional career, and get media exposure throughout the world via the Internet.

The event culminates with the annual YYPA Concert, to be held Monday, June 27, at 8:00 p.m. at Emens Auditorium, where YYPA winners perform with an accomplished guest artist. In years past, guest artists have included Jeff Coffin, saxophonist for the Dave Matthew Band and the Mu’tet; Dana Leong, trombonist, cellist, and prolific composer; and Joe Burgstaller, world-renowned soloist and distinguished faculty at The Peabody Institute. Many past YYPA winners have established successful careers in music.
