This is as good as it gets. The CS-R3203 is a complete system including a high performance home theater receiver, CD changer, dual-well auto-reverse tape deck, and a full complement of speakers. The electronic components are elegantly stacked in a handsome black cabinet. The tower speakers flanking it share the same black micro-pebble finish.

Powering this flagship system is Yamaha's R-V703 receiver providing 80 watts per channel to the front three channels and 20 watts to each of the rear speakers. It provides Dolby Surround Pro Logic, 8 Yamaha DSP and Cinema DSP modes, and a high quality AM/FM stereo tuner with 40 presets.

The R-V703 is a 5-channel receiver providing superb Pro Logic performance and processing and Yamaha's Digital Sound Field Processing, and Cinema DSP. And it has inputs that can accept the decoded output of a 5.1 channel decoder, such as Yamaha's DDP-2 or other outboard decoder, or a decoded signal from a DVD player.

Discrete power transistors rather than IC chips are used in the amplifier section to provide the cleanest sound possible. The amp delivers 80 watts each to the three front channels and 20 watts each to the rear surround channels.

Yamaha's YSS-203 chip provides Digital Dolby Pro Logic with full channel separation and no front-to-back bleedthrough as well as 35mm Cinema DSP.

The R-V703 is a versatile receiver incorporating three sets of audio-only inputs and three pairs of A/V inputs. All the video inputs have RCA jacks.

Yamaha's famed low impedance drive circuitry is included in this receiver so that it can handle virtually all loads and a wide variety of speakers. For further speaker matching, the receiver's back-panel switches can be set for either high or low-impedance speakers.

The advantage of full range, 20 to 20,000 Hz, damping is that it improves the definition and resolution of the sound output throughout the audible frequency range.

You can easily add a second center channel speaker. This is especially convenient for large-room systems or for those using a big screen or projection TV.

The main left and right speakers for the CS-R3203 system are the NS-A2837s. Each tower contains two 8" woofers, a 4" midrange, and a 1" tweeter. The dual woofers eliminate the need for a subwoofer to deliver the low bass necessary for excellent home theater. The speakers are magnetically shielded and can be placed near a TV without distorting the picture. The cabinets have a micro-pebble black finish, matching the component cabinet.

Yamaha's NS-AP101 package includes an NS-AC2A center channel speaker and a pair of NS-A76A rear effects speakers. The NS-AC2 is a two-way design incorporating a pair of 5" cone woofers and a 1" cone tweeter. Frequency range is 70 to 20,000 Hz. The NS-A76As each use a single 5" full-range driver. Frequency is 95 to 13,000 Hz.

The CS-R3203's electronic components fit in the elegant micro-pebble black HF-76B cabinet. The cabinet has an attractive curved smoked glass door to maintain a neat appearance.
