This is as good as it gets. The CS-R3604 is a complete system including a high performance home theater receiver, CD changer, dual-well auto-reverse tape deck, and a full complement of speakers. The electronic components are elegantly stacked in a Euro-styled open cabinet. The four-way tower speakers flanking it share the same black micro-pebble finish.

The HTR-5140 is a 5-channel receiver providing Dolby Digital 5.1 channel decoding, and Yamaha's Tri-Field Cinema DSP, and Digital Sound Field Processing. Dolby Digital delivers discrete surround enjoyment on DVDs and laserdiscs, and Yamaha's proprietary surround processing technologies add depth and excitement to all kinds of audio and video programs.

High quality performance today and ready for tomorrow. The HTR-5140 can easily accept the decoded output from any 5.1 channel surround system, whether it's DTS, MPEG-2, the new DVD Audio, or a system not yet developed.

Discrete power transistors rather than IC chips are used in the amplifier section to provide the cleanest sound possible. The amp delivers 60 watts to each of its five channels.

The HTR-5140 is a versatile receiver incorporating 4-sets of audio/video inputs and 3 pairs of audio-only inputs.

Yamaha's famed low impedance drive circuitry is included in this receiver so that it can handle virtually all loads and a wide variety of speakers. For further speaker matching, the receiver's back-panel switches can be set for either high or low-impedance main speakers and either high or low-impedance center and surround speakers.

The main left and right speakers are the NS-A1638s. Each chambered and internally braced tower contains a 12" woofer, two 5-1/2" midrange drivers, and a 1" dome tweeter. The mirror-imaged woofers eliminate the need for a subwoofer to deliver the low bass necessary for excellent home theater and the internal bracing eliminates cabinet resonances. They are magnetically shielded and can be placed near a TV without distorting the picture. Cabinets have a micro-pebble black finish.

Yamaha's new NS-AC143 is the important center channel speaker in the system. The magnetically shielded speaker incorporates dual 5-1/4" woofers and a 1" dome tweeter. It has a black micro-pebble finish.

A pair of Yamaha's versatile new AW-1s provide the effects channels. The two-way design utilizes a 5" glass filled cloth woofer and 1/2" titanium dome tweeter. The speakers are magnetically shielded and have a black micro-pebble finish.

The CS-R3604's electronic components fit in the elegant, Euro-styled equipment rack. The "open", modern look goes with most room designs.
