Yamaha's new NS-A1738 is a true four-way speaker system containing mirror-image woofers, dual mid-range drivers, and a dome tweeter. The tower cabinet is internally braced to eliminate resonances and separate internal chambers for the mid-range drivers to create different response characteristics and deliver four-way performance.

Deep and accurate bass is assured through the use of 15" woofers arranged in a mirror-image, side firing configuration. The drivers are long-throw polymer coated devices which employ an inverted dust cover. The low bass response of the NS-A1738 eliminates the need for a separate subwoofer.

Inside the cabinet, Yamaha has created a separate chamber to house one of the two mid-range drivers. The other is positioned normally within the cabinet. The result is that the two drivers respond differently, due to the relative air volume surrounding them, and augment each other. The drivers are identical 6-1/2" high compliance glass-filled models and use an inverted dust cover.

The high-frequency response is accurately handled by a 1" glass-filled dome tweeter.

For the ultimate in sound purity, Yamaha's NS-A1738 can be bi-amped, so that separate amps would serve the woofers and mid-range/tweeter combination.

The speaker is magnetically shielded, so it can be placed on a TV or video monitor without degrading the picture via stray magnetic fields.

New grille design and satin grille cloth provide an attractive and acoustically transparent protective cover for the drivers.

The new micro-pebble black laminate finish is durable and good looking.

Five-way binding posts make speaker connection easy. Gold plating assures the best possible electrical connection.
