Exclusive Air Surround System
Drawing on our extensive experience in digital signal processing and the use of sound reflections to create surround sound, Yamaha developed the Air Surround System. Through direct and reflected sound, it provides an enjoyable listening experience without center and rear speakers. It can be used in rooms of all sizes, and is especially convenient for small rooms. Stereo sound can also be enjoyed.
Quality and Convenience!
The YAS-70 provides surround sound experience — without the need for the usual multi-speaker system. Listeners hear five channels (with the appropriate sources) from the Air Surround unit and robust bass from the subwoofer. DVD movies and other sources, including stereo sources like TV, will be heard in dynamic surround sound. In addition, the design is both elegant and flexible — there is no need for speaker boxes placed around the room, no need for lots of speaker cables, and both units can be positioned in the center of a wall or in a corner.

Technology
Dolby Pro Logic II

Dolby Pro Logic II is an improved technique used to decode vast numbers of existing Dolby Surround sources. This technology enables a discrete 5-channel playback with 2 front left and right channels, 1 center channel, and 2 surround left and right channels instead of only 1 surround channel for conventional Pro Logic technology. There are three modes available: “Music mode” for music sources, “Movie mode” for movie sources and “Game mode” for game sources.
Dolby, Pro Logic, and the double-D symbol are registered trademarks of Dolby Laboratories.

DTS Digital Surround™

DTS Digital Surround™ was developed to replace the analog soundtracks of movies with a 6.1 channel digital sound track and is now rapidly gaining popularity in movie theaters around the world. DTS, Inc. has developed a home theater system so that you can enjoy the depth of sound and natural spatial representation of DTS Digital Surround™ in your home. This system produces practically distortion-free 6 channel sound (technically, front left and right, center, surround left and right and LFE 0.1 (subwoofer) channels for a total of 5.1 channels). This unit incorporates a DTS-ES decoder that enables 6.1 channel reproduction by adding the surround back channel to the existing 5.1 channel format.
CINEMA DSP Digital

Conventional multichannel audio reproduction systems base their sound on Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, using matrix and steering technologies to create surround sound effects. Yamaha CINEMA DSP is much more advanced, actually creating richly realized independent sound fields that envelop you in an unmatched surround sound experience. With dialogue, music and effects from ideally located in these separate sound fields, you will hear sound with accurate placement, smooth movement, exceptional clarity and richness, and startlingly realistic presence. It will seem as if the walls of your room have disappeared and you are in the middle of your own immense theater! The decoding circuitry performs Dolby Pro Logic IIx, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, DTS Digital Surround, DTS-ES (DTS-ES Matrix 6.1 and DTS-ES Discrete 6.1), DTS Neo:6 and DTS 96/24 decoding with extreme accuracy, as well as all digital sound field processing.
Advanced YST

Advanced Yamaha Active Servo Technology (Advanced YST) is a unique system in which the speaker and amplifier work together to cancel out impedance so the speaker unit has a perfectly linear motion. Advanced YST helps to ensure the highest levels of sound pressure and overall performance.
