ALL THE AUDIO EQUIPMENT NEEDED FOR SUPERB HOME THEATER IN A SINGLE BOX*
Provides an easy way to purchase a home theater component system. The YHT-300 includes Yamaha's five-piece NS-AP280A speaker ensemble and the YST-SW005 subwoofer, plus Yamaha's HTR-5540 5-channel home theater receiver, which delivering 75 watts/channel and a host of multi-channel decoding and processing options.
POWERFUL HOME THEATER RECEIVER
The HTR-5540 is a powerful and versatile 5-channel receiver, delivering 75 watts to each channel. The receiver provides plenty of processing and a host of Yamaha features.
POWERFUL SOUND PROCESSING
With powerful and varied sound processing, the HTR-5540 provides Dolby Digital, Dolby ProLogic II,and DTS Digital Surround decoding. Yamaha's Quad-Field CINEMA DSP allows enjoyment of Dolby Digital EX and DTS-ES Matrix 6.1 sound formats in the Phantom mode (using 5.1 channels). The HTR-5540 provides 21 surround programs and offers a total of 41 surround environement variations.
HIGH PERFORMANCE LSIS AND OTHER CIRCUITRY
Yamaha's proprietary ASIC LSI, the 32-bit YSS-938, assures top quality audio performance.
VERSATILE VIDEO INPUTS AND OUTPUTS
Eager to take on challenging home theater situations, the HTR-5540 has 4 video inputs and 1 video output.
AUDIO INPUTS AND OUTPUTS FOR EVERY NEED
The HTR-5540 has two audio-only inputs and one audio-only output. Including the audio portion of A/V source inputs, the receiver provides 1 optical and 1 coaxial digital input.
AUTO-PRIORITY INPUT SELECTION AND AUTO DECODER SELECTION
When a source is selected, the receiver automatically chooses the best quality input connected - digital audio rather than analog audio etc. The receiver also makes the same automatic selection for decoding, down the hierarchy from discrete multi-channel, to matrix, and then stereo.
SILENT CINEMA
Building on technology incorporated into its world famous "silent" musical instruments, Yamaha has added HRTF and "Virtual" technology to create a realistic surround movie effect using standard, two-channel headphones.
6-CHANNEL INPUT
The HTR-5540's rear panel has input jacks to accommodate an external decoder. The receiver is ready for any other multi-channel format, should one be developed.
LOW IMPEDANCE DRIVE CAPABILITY AND IMPEDANCE SWITCHING
Yamaha's famed low impedance drive circuitry is included in this receiver so that it can handle virtually all loads and a wide variety of speakers. For further speaker matching, the amplifier can set for either 4- or 8-ohm speakers.
SUBWOOFER PRE-OUT
The new receiver provides a subwoofer pre-out so that the low frequency signals can go directly to the powered subwoofer.
LINEAR DAMPING FACTOR CIRCUIT
The advantage of full range, 20 to 20,00 Hz, damping is that it improves the definition and resolution of the sound output throughout the audible frequency range.
VERSATILE REMOTE
For easy operation, the HTR-5540 comes with Yamaha's remote control featuring an easy to use layout.
COMPLETE HOME THEATER SPEAKER COMPLEMENT*
The six-speaker complement includes the five-speaker NS-AP280A for the front, center, and surround speakers and Yamaha's YST-SW005 subwoofer, delivering low bass, which is so important for effective home theater. Each magnetically shielded speaker in the NS-AP280A ensemble is a two-way acoustic suspension design utilizing a 3" woofer and a 1/2" dome tweeter. Because the speakers are identical, they provide a seamless surround effect.
DRAMATIC BASS*
The low bass found in the YHT-300 system is provided by the Yamaha YST-SW005 Active Servo Technology subwoofer. It features a 6-1/2" driver and 55 watt amplifier to deliver the sonic punch needed for home theater. The subwoofer is magnetically shielded, so it can be placed near a TV without degrading the picture. A volume control and two-position high-cut filter allow for seamless transitions from subwoofer to full-range speakers.
SIGNAL SENSING
The subwoofer will automatically activate when its circuitry senses an audio signal and will turn off when the signal has ceased for several minutes.
MAGNETIC SHIELDING FOR OPTIMUM SYSTEM PERFORMANCE
All speakers included in the YHT-300 feature magnetic shielding, so they can be placed near a TV or monitor and cause no picture degradation.
