POWERFUL HOME THEATER RECEIVER*
The HTR-5550 is a powerful and versatile 5-channel receiver, delivering 75 watts to each channel. The receiver provides plenty of processing and a host of multi-channel decoding and processing options.
POWERFUL SOUND PROCESSING
With powerful and varied sound processing, the HTR-5550provides Dolby Digital, Dolby ProLogic II,and DTS Digital Surround decoding. Yamaha's Quad-Field CINEMA DSP allows enjoyment of Dolby Digital EX and DTS-ES Matrix 6.1 sound formats in the Phantom mode (using 5.1 channels). The HTR-5550 provides 21 surround programs and offers a total of 41 surround environement variations.
HIGH PERFORMANCE LSIS AND OTHER CIRCUITRY
Yamaha's proprietary ASIC LSI, the 32-bit YSS-938, assures top quality audio performance.
VERSATILE VIDEO INPUTS AND OUTPUTS*
Eager to take on challenging home theater situations, the HTR-5550 has 5 video inputs and 2 video outputs. Four of the inputs have S-video connections in addition to standard RCA jacks. Two component video inputs and a component video output assure the best possible video signal transmission.
AUDIO INPUTS AND OUTPUTS FOR EVERY NEED*
The HTR-5550 has two audio-only output. Including the audio portion of A/v source inputs, the receiver provides 3 optical and 1 coaxial digital inputs. In addition, the HTR-5550 provides a digital audio output.
AUTO-PRIORITY INPUT SELECTION AND AUTO DECODER SELECTION
When a source is selected, the receiver automatically chooses the best qualtiy input connected - digital audio rather than analog audio, etc. The receiver also makes the same automatic selection for decoding, down the hierarchy from discrete multi-channel, to matrix, and then stereo.
SILENT CINEMA
Building on technology incorporated into its world famous "silent" musical instruments, Yamaha has added HRTF and "Virtual" technology to create a realistic surround movie effect using standard, two-channel headphones.
6-CHANNEL INPUT
The HTR-5550's rear panel has input jacks to accommodate an external decoder. The receiver is ready for any other multi-channel format, should one be developed.
LOW IMPEDANCE DRIVE CAPABILITY AND IMPEDANCE SWITCHING
Yamaha's famed low impedance drive circuitry is included in this receiver so that it can handle virtually all loads and a wide variety of speakers. For further speaker matching, the amplifier can set for either 4- or 8-ohm speakers.
SUBWOOFER PRE-OUT
The new receiver provides a subwoofer pre-out so that the low frequency signals can go directly to the powered subwoofer.
LINEAR DAMPING FACTOR CIRCUIT
The advantage of full range, 20 to 20,000 Hz, damping is that it improves the definiton and resolution of the sound output throughout the audible frequency range.
VERSATILE REMOTE*
For easy operation, the HTR-5550 comes with Yamaha's remote control featuring preset codes to control many products from other manufacturers.
SLEEP TIMER
Permits a delayed receiver turn off. It can be set for up to two hours in 30 minute increments.
40-STATION DIRECT ACCESS PRESET TUNING
Up to 40 preset AM and FM stations can be grouped in five groups eight stations. These groupings make it easy for family members to easily access their favorite stations or to have musical genres, such as all the jazz stations, grouped together.

Yamaha's heavy-duty binding post speaker terminals for all channels accept banana plugs, spade connectors, and a variety of speaker wire, including heavy gauge cable.
VERSATILE DVD CHANGER
Yamaha's new 5-disc DVD changer does it all. It plays DVD-Audio discs as well as DVD-Video, CDs, and VCDs. The DV-C6480 can also playback CD-R/RW discs, DVD-RAM discs, MP3s, and features interlaced and progressive scan video output.
ANTI-VIBRATION SYSTEM
The DV-C6480 features a sophisticated anti-vibration system incorporating shockproof memory circuitry and a large disc stablizer.
YAMAHA'S PlayXchange 5-DISC TRANSPORT
Yamaha's patented PlayXchange system allows swapping out four discs while the fifth is playing.
BUILT-IN DOLBY DIGITAL AND DTS DECODERS
The DV-C6480 incorporates built-in, high quality Dolby Digital and DTS decoders.
DUAL LASER OPTICAL PICKUP
The high performance laser pick-up focuses independently to provide top-quality Video CD, Audio CD, and DVD performance.
CINEMA IMAGE
Cinema Image recognizes a movie and softens the brightness for better viewing on conventional direct view TVs. It also improves the visibility of dark scenes and reduces picture noise.
SUPERIOR AUDIO PROCESSING
Burr-Brown 192 kHz/24-bit compatible audio digital-to-analog conversion assures that the DV-C6480 delivers superior sound performance. Yamaha's Cinema Dialogue circuitry provides a steady and centered audio image to maintain the direction and intelligibility of a movie's script.
HIGHEST QUALITY VIDEO PROCESSING
Yamaha's high quality video 54 MHz/12-bit video DAC and 4:4:4 progressive component video circuit assure the finest possible video performance.
3:2 PULL-DOWN DETECTION TYPE PROGRESSIVE CIRCUIT
Seamlessly changes the aspect ratio so that conventional and widescreen videos can be seen to their best advantage.
DCDi FAROUDJA PROCESSING
Provides a film-like, image with minimum scan artifacts.
VIDEO OUTPUTS
The Yamaha DV-C6480 incorporates Intelligent Progressive video output and features component video outputs as well as S-video outputs.
MULTIPLE AUDIO OUTPUTS

Because the speakers are identical, they provide a seamless surround effect.
DRAMATIC BASS*
The low bass found in the YHT-700 system is provided by the Yamaha YST-SW45 Active Servo Technology subwoofer. It features an 8" driver and 70 watt amplifier to deliver the sonic punch needed for home theater. The subwoofer is magnetically shielded, so it can be placed near a TV without degrading the picture. A volume control and variable high-cut filter allow for seamless transitions from subwoofer to full-range speakers.
SIGNAL SENSING
The subwoofer will automatically activate when its circuitry senses an audio signal and will turn off when the signal has ceased for several minutes.
MAGNETIC SHIELDING FOR OPTIMUM SYSTEM PERFORMANCE
All speakers included in the UYHT-700 feature magnetic shielding, so they can be placed near a TV or monitor and cause no picture degradation.
