ALL THE AUDIO EQUIPMENT NEEDED FOR SUPERB HOME*
Provides an easy way to purchase a home theater component system. The YHT-800 includes the DV-C6480 DVD changer, Yamaha's five-piece NS-AP540 speaker ensemble and the YST-SW105 subwoofer, plus Yamaha's HTR-5550 5-channel home theater receiver, which delivers 75 watts/channel and a host of multi-channel decoding and processing options.
POWERFUL HOME THEATER RECEIVER
The HTR-5550 is a powerful and versatile 5-channel receiver, delivering 75 watts to each channel. The receiver provides plenty of processing and a host of Yamaha features.
POWERFUL SOUND PROCESSING
With powerful and varied sound processing, the HTR-5550 provides Dolby Digital, Dolby ProLogic II,and DTS Digital Surround decoding. Yamaha's Quad-Field CINEMA DSP allows enjoyment of Dolby Digital EX and DTS-ES Matrix 6.1 sound formats in the Phantom mode (using 5.1 channels). The HTR-5550 provides 21 surround programs and offers a total of 41 surround environement variations.
HIGH PERFORMANCE LSIS AND OTHER CIRCUITRY
Yamaha's proprietary ASIC LSI, the 32-bit YSS-938, assures top quality audio performance.
VERSATILE VIDEO INPUTS AND OUTPUTS*
Eager to take on challenging home theater situations, the HTR-5550 has 5 video inputs and 2 video outputs. Four of the inputs have S-video connections in addition to standard RCA jacks. Two component video inputs and a component video output assure the best possible video signal transmission.
AUDIO INPUTS AND OUTPUTS FOR EVERY NEED*
The HTR-5550 has two audio-only inputs and one audio-only output. Including the audio portion of A/V source inputs, the receiver provides 3 optical and 1 coaxial digital inputs. IN addition, the HTR-5550 provides a digital audio output.
AUTO-PRIORITY INPUT SELECTION AND AUTO DECODER SELECTION
When a source is selected, the receiver automatically chooses the best quality input connected - digital audio rather than analog audio video, etc. The receiver also makes the same automatic selection for decoding, down the hierarchy from discrete multi-channel, to matrix, and then stereo.
Building on technology incorporated into its world famous "silent" musical instruments, Yamaha has added HRTF and "Virtual" technology to create a realistic surround movie effect using standard, two-channel headphones.
The HTR-5550 's rear panel has input jacks to accommodate an external decoder. The receiver is ready for any other multi-channel format, should one be developed.
LOW IMPEDANCE DRIVE CAPABILITY AND IMPEDANCE SWITCHING
Yamaha's famed low impedance drive circuitry is included in this receiver so that it can handle virtually all loads and a wide variety of speakers. For further speaker matching, the amplifier can be set for either 4- or 8-ohm speakers.
The new receiver provides a subwoofer pre-out so that the low frequency signals can go directly to the powered subwoofer.
LINEAR DAMPING FACTOR CIRCUIT
The advantage of full range, 20 to 20,000 Hz, damping is that it improves the definition and resolution of the sound output throughout the audible frequency range.
For easy operation, the HTR-5550 comes with Yamaha's remote control featuring preset codes for many other manufacturer's products.
Permits a delayed receiver turn off. It can be set for up to two hours in 30 minute increments.
40-STATION DIRECT ACCESS PRESET TUNING
Up to 40 preset AM and FM stations can be grouped in five groups eight stations. These groupings make it easy for family members to easily access their favorite stations or to have musical genres, such as all the jazz stations, grouped together.
MULTI-WAY BINDING POST SPEAKER TERMINALS
Yamaha's heavy-duty binding post speaker terminals for all channels accept banana plugs, spade connectors, and a variety of speaker wire, including heavy gauge cable.
VERSATILE DVD CHANGER
Yamaha's new 5-disc DVD changer does it all. It plays DVD-Audio discs as well as DVD-Video, CDs, and VCDs. The DV-C6480 can also playback CD-R/RW discs, DVD-RAM discs, MP3s, and features interlaced and progressive scan video output.
The DV-C6480 features a sophisticated anti-vibration system incorporating shockproof memory circuitry and a large disc stablizer.
YAMAHA'S PlayXchange 5-DISC TRANSPORT
Yamaha's patented PlayXchange system allows swapping out four discs while the fifth is playing.
BUILT-IN DOLBY DIGITAL AND DTS DECODERS
The DV-C6480 incorporates built-in, high quality Dolby Digital and DTS decoders.
DUAL LASER OPTICAL PICKUP
The high performance laser pick-up focuses independently to provide top-quality Video CD, Audio CD, and DVD performance.
Cinema Image recognizes a movie and softens the brightness for better viewing on conventional direct view TVs. It also improves the visibility of dark scenes and reduces picture noise.
SUPERIOR AUDIO PROCESSING
Burr-Brown192 kHz/24-bit compatible audio digital-to-analog conversion assures that the DV-C6480 delivers superior sound performance. Yamaha's Cinema Dialogue circuitry provides a steady and centered audio image to maintain the direction and intelligibility of a movie's script.
HIGHEST QUALITY VIDEO PROCESSING
Yamaha's high quality video 54 MHz/12-bit video DAC and 4:4:4 progressive component video circuit assure the finest possible video performance.
3 : 2 PULL-DOWN DETECTION TYPE PROGRESSIVE CIRCUIT
Seamlessly changes the aspect ratio so that conventional and widescreen videos can be seen to their best advantage.
DCDi FAROUDJA PROCESSING
Provides a film-like, image with minimum scan artifacts.
The Yamaha DV-C6480 incorporates Intelligent Progressive video output and features component video outputs as well as S-video outputs.
MULTIPLE AUDIO OUTPUTS
The DV-C6480 provides optical and coaxial digital audio outputs. It also features 6-channel discrete audio outputs - Main L/R, Surround L/R, Center, and Subwoofer - and mixed 2-channel outputs.
MULTI-FUNCTION REMOTE CONTROL
Control and operation is easy with the DV-C6480's well designed remote control keypad.
COMPLETE HOME THEATER SPEAKER COMPLEMENT*
The six-speaker complement includes the six-speaker NS-AP540 for the front, center, and surround speakers and Yamaha's YST-SW105 subwoofer, delivering low bass, which is so important for effective home theater. Each magnetically shielded speaker in the NS-AP540 ensemble is a two-way acoustic suspension design utilizing dual 3" woofers and a 3/4" soft dome tweeter. Since the speakers are identical, they provide a seamless surround effect.
The low bass provided in the YHT-800 system is provided by the Yamaha YST-SW105 Active servo Technology subwoofer. It features an 8" driver and 100 watt amplfier to deliver the sonic punch needed for home theater. The YST-SW105 is magnetically shielded, so it can be placed near a TV without degrading the picture. A volume control and two-position high-cut filter allow for seamless transitions from subwoofer to full-range speakers.
The subwoofer will automatically activate when its circuitry senses an audio signal and will turn off when the signal has ceased for several minutes.
MAGNETIC SHIELDING FOR OPTIMUM SYSTEM PERFORMANCE
All spseakers included in the YHT-900 feature magnetic shielding, so they can be placed near a TV or monitor and cause no picture degradation.
