The top, sides, back and neck of the FGXB1 are bamboo. Since natural bamboo is only available in thin strips, it must be laminated and processed using special technology that has taken years to develop. Why bother? The type of bamboo we use grows from sprout to full guitar-readiness in 3 to 5 years, and thus is a fully replenishable resource(unlike the world's rapidly dwindling rain forests, which are the main source of most other tonewoods.)But the environment isn't the only issue: just play or listen to one of these instruments and you'll know what we mean.

The material may be new, but the consummate craftsmanship and attention to detail that goes into every Yamaha guitar has not changed. A guitar is a guitar, and although technological progress is essential (and embraced at Yamaha), our master craftsmen are still in full control. The only way to make a truly great acoustic guitar is by hand and Bamboo Guitars are no exception.

The piezo-electric pickups, which are perfectly matched to the guitar, are built in.This guitar also has an advanced preamplifier / control module offers three-band equalization with variable midrange frequency (Yamaha's AMF-Adjustable Midrange Frequency-control). The three-band EQ and AMF control not only makes it easy to shape the instrument's response for optimum sound, but they can also be used to effectively minimize feedback in live situations. Also, a volume control is provided for convenient level adjustment, while a Mid Shape Switch offers a choice between Natural and Hard tone settings. The Hard setting boosts Mid and Low frequencies producing a powerful sound.
