Features
Live' acoustic piano playback
Disklavier pianos can reproduce 'live' piano concert on their own keys, pedals and strings. You can adjust playback volume and tempo, transpose into other keys... even play one hand yourself while the Disklavier plays the other! And the performances from across the room.
Digital/acoustic ensemble sound
An integrated digital tone generator can reproduce hundreds of instrumental sounds in conjunction with the piano, for fully orchestrated ensemble performance. Relax to the sounds of a jazz trio. Enjoy an intimate dinner with chamber music. Or add excitement to parties with big bands and popular groups.
Built-in amplified speaker system
Incorporating a stereo (60W + 60W) audio system with dual two-way speakers, the Mark III Series pianos are totally self-contained musical entertainment systems. Enjoy ensemble concerts without external equipment. Or play the digital piano in Quiet mode without disturbing others.
PianoSmart synchronization
PianoSmart is a truly revolutionary breakthrough in Disklavier technology that intelligently synchronizes Disklavier recording and playback with the operation of the built-in CD player, allowing you to record yourself playing along with CDs of your favorite artists. Compatible with the MTC (MIDI Tiime Code) standard, PianoSmart can even synchronize Disklavier recording and playback with external devices, such as multi-track recorders and video cameras, through use of a MIDI sync box.
Digital Quiet/Silent Piano mode flexibility
When normal volume is inappropriate, you can play or listen in digital Quiet mode through the speakers, or in Silent Piano mode via headphones. This also allows you to play internal orchestral voices independently - ideal for multi-track recording or use as a MIDI controller. Stereo sampled from the concert grand, the digital tones sound and respond to your touch just like the acoustic piano. Reverb effects can simulate various environments, and dual headphone jacks let two people share private performance.
Integrated recording capabilities
Using fiber-optic sensors, the Disklavier can record anything that's played upon it and recreate this performance perfectly at your command. As the light-based sensors have no physical contact, they capture performance without affecting the touch of the keyboard. You can record left- and right-hand parts independently. Create your own four-hand duets. Or compose ensemble arrangements with up to 16 piano and instrumental tracks.
PianoSmart Software
In addition to a wide range of existing Disklavier sofware, including Yamaha PianoSoft, PianoSoft-Plus, and PianoSoft-PlusAudio titles, an exciting new music software series -Smart PianoSoft- is now available for Disklavier Mark III Series pianos. Taking advantage of PianoSmart technology, Smart PianoSoft offers professionally arrantged MIDI piano files on floppy disk, perfectly synchronized to major music CDs in every genre. This means that virtually any CD, including those in your own personal collection, can potentially become Disklavier sofware!
Versatile PC, MIDI and AUX connections
MIDI jacks let you control digital devices from the piano keyboard, add new sounds to your Disklavier ensemble or play the Disklavier from external equipment. AUX terminals let you amplify sound via external equipment, record to conventional audio media, or play along with music through Disklavier speakers or headphones. You can even connect the Disklavier directly to your PC. Use computer software to edit or print out what you play. Download files for playback. Or transmit performance across the Internet.
Learn to play with SmartKey
With SmartKey, anyone can play the piano. Simply follow along as it partially depresses the next note to play, adding professional embellishment every step of the way. And CueTIME, another exciting integrated feature, can provide sophisticated digital orchestral accompaniment, to make you sound like a pro.
