The PSR420/320 are the first home-type portable keyboards to include a large interactive Multi LCD Display. At a glance you can see everything you need to see in text and as icons. Most changes can be made easily with just three buttons and the cursor pads.

Digital Effects add atmosphere and depth to your sound. The four effects variations can give even a small room the warmth and "live" feeling of a much larger space. Ambience gives each note reverberation. The Ensemble Effect gives tones a "thick", slightly detuned sound. Ambience and Ensemble can be used at the same time, or the Sustain Effect will automatically extend the sustain of every note played on the keyboard.

Instead of giving you a voice preset that sounds just like an acoustic piano, Yamaha gives you eight piano voices. You get different organ voices, as well as guitars, brass, reeds... the list goes on and on; and Yamaha's Advanced Wave Memory technology makes every one sound as good as the real thing. You can play up to 28 notes at one time. And because the voices comply with the GM System Level 1 standard, songs you record will sound the same when played back on other GM equipment.

Today, you can carry a lightweight portable keyboard, a few batteries and a Yamaha Music Cartridge into any practice hall and listen to a flawlessly synthesized automated performance of any of thousands of lushly orchestrated songs of all types from all over the world. When you playback a recorded song, or a song from a Music Cartridge. Minus One Mode lets you turn off the right and/or left split of the keyboard so you can practice one hand at a time, or just turn off the melody completely. If you play some other instrument like a guitar or saxophone, Minus One will turn off any of the Music Cartridge tracks so you can practice your own part with the full band behind you.

For those Hard-To-Play Parts. The PSR-420/320 also help you to learn by automatically repeating any parts of any song you want (Cartridge or internal) for as long as you want. Just tell them what measure you want to start at and where you want to stop, all you have to do is play along. The Repeat function will play your selected section over and over, at any tempo you want, until you tell it to stop.

One Touch Setting will choose appropriate voices and digital effects for every accompaniment style whenever you select one. Each style has its own introduction, two main sections, four fill-ins, and an ending. Switching between sections can be done anytime, even in the middle of a section, because the necessary fill-ins are generated automatically.

The Touch Response System changes both the volume and tonality of each note played, depending on how hard you press each key, to more closely match the tonal dynamics of acoustic instruments. Touch Response can be easily turned on and off, and Touch Sensitivity can be easily adjusted, and it's all automatically recorded by Midi systems.

The Dual Voice feature allows each key to play two separate voices over the entire range of the keyboard. The second of the dual voices can be transposed by octaves automatically. Combining the Dual Voice, Split, and Harmony functions along with voice transposition and the Registration Memory lets even a beginner create complex, fully orchestrated songs for playback or rehearsal.

Registration Memory will hold 32 of your favorite set-ups for instant recall whenever you need them. There are eight banks of four memories each, so using multiple registrations for one song is as easy as pushing a button. There's even an Accompaniment Freeze feature that lets you select a new registration preset without interrupting the flow of you accompaniment.

The PSR-320 can internally record an accompaniment track and two melody tracks for each song, and will hold up to three songs in memory at the same time. Record you Auto Accompaniment, with drums, bass, and chord progressions, then lay in your two melody tracks. Changing the voices or the volume of any voice is as easy as pushing a button.

The Musical Instrument Digital Interface is the world standard for the exchange of musical information. The PSR-320 comes ready to plug into any musical seauencer or computer to form a powerful music creation system.

These pads do more than just add a little drumbeat. They let you add an immediate impact and variety to you performance spontaneously. When tapped, the pads play a variety of preset rhythms, fills, punches, chords, and riffs on various drum kits, and on everything from flaming electric guitars to full orchestras.
