Video Editing
With support for the ESAM II editor protocol, the 03D Video Edit Suite software turns the 03D Digital Mixing Console into a full-feature digital audio mixer for video post-pro.
Mac OS or Windows 95
03D VEK (Video Edit suite software Kit) is supplied on floppy disks, with Macintosh and Windows disks containing the regular 03D software and the Video Edit Suite Software. A personal computer running Mac OS or Windows 95 and a serial cable is necessary for installation.
Crossfade
Crossfades can be performed over the number of frames specified by ESAM II commands from an editor. One of seven crossfade patterns can be assigned to each source (channel). Stereo-pair channels share the same pattern. In addition, one of three curves can be applied to sources globally. The fade-out level or "floor" can be set from 0 dB to minus infinity.
Local Switch
Using Local mode, which works only when the CH 1-16 or 17-24/Stin pages are displayed, the channel (SEL) buttons can be used to set channels to ignore incoming ESAM II commands. When a (SEL) button's indicator is off, that channel responds to incoming ESAM II commands. When it's flashing, the channel is in Local mode and ignores ESAM II commands.
Roll Library
Channel information for up to four channels per machine (i.e., roll or tape) can be stored in the Roll library, with up to 100 memories, allowing frequent roll changes to be carried out quickly. Roll library settings include the following: Channel parameters that can be stored in a channel library program; Crossfade curve parameters; Limit level parameters; Auto level setting function level and on/off parameters.
ESAM Setup Memories
Frame type, fader mode, and auto level settings can be stored in the three setup memories.
Auto Level Setting
By reading the level of the test tone at the beginning of a reel, the Video Edit Suite software automatically sets the gain (-18 dB to +18 dB) of the INPUT LEVEL ADJUST control, to produce the specified output level.
Source/ Machine Assignments
Input channels (sources) can be assigned to up to 8 machines on the SOURCE/MACHINE ASSIGN page.
I/O Delay
In addition to the sample and time units available on the regular 03D, input and output delays can also be specified in quarter-frame steps. With a sampling rate of 48 kHz and the Frame Type set to DF (drop frame), the delay range is 200 ms, approximately six frames. With the LONGER OUTPUT DELAY TIME preference turned on, the input delay time is reduced and the bus and stereo out delay times are increased, for input and output delays of 170 ms.
OFFSET
Using the OFFSET parameter on the CH Delay page, a delay of up four frames (in single frame steps) can be set globally for the bus and stereo outputs, providing easy system integration.
Instant Pan
Pan Flip allows instant hard left, hard right, and center panning with just one touch of a USER DEFINE button.
Master Level Protect
Bus out and aux send master faders can be protected against accidental operation using the MASTER LEVEL PROTECT option, useful when master levels are not adjusted regularly.
Expanded Libraries for Post Pro
Three new programs for post pro applications have been added to the Effects and EQ libraries.
Analog/Digital I/O Swap
Analog inputs 9 to 16 and digital inputs 17 to 24 can be swapped so that the analog inputs appear as channels 17 to 24 and the digital inputs appear as channels 9 to 16, allowing digital input signal control without the need to switch the Mixing Layer.
