The signal processing is carried out in the digital domain. 16-bit ( 64 times oversampling) A/D converters. 18-bit (64 times oversampling) D/A converters at the stereo outputs.

In addition to the analog inputs the DMP9 features a stereo digital input that will accept digital signal in either Yamaha or coaxial format.

It features a high-performance 2-band digital equalizer which allows precision response shaping over a broad range. In the peaking mode Q can be adjustmented over a wide 0.1-8 range for precise compensation in a specific range of frequencies. Response is sweepable from 20 Hz to 20 kHz in 120 increments.

4 auxiliary sends give the DMP9 considerable signal processing flexibility. The two internal effect processors employ the very latest Yamaha digital.

Many features and functions can be stored in memory, and can be controlled externally via MIDI. It has a surprisingly simple, straightforward front panel control layout. A 16-character 4-line LCD and data entry wheel provide easy access to all DMP9 functions. Input channel levels are set using familiar rotary controls, each with 8-point LED indicators. Seven-segment stereo LED bargraphs are provided for output level monitoring.

Control parameters- levels, effects, equalization, pan, etc. are stored and instantly recall complete "scenes".

MIDI control makes it possible to perform a range of operations , from simple "scene" selection to fully automated mixdown. DMP9'S parameters can be controlled by MIDI sequence recorder, computer, or similar device.

Two independent stereo outputs, both fed via separate buses. Each stereo output is provided with a level control, and can be monitored via headphones.

As well as being used to connect DC players, DAT recorders, etc., the DMP9 digital inputs and outputs can also be used to connect other DMP9's for channel expansion.
