16 Channel A and B Inputs — Channel Connectors
Accommodates both balanced XLR-type connector and balanced 1/4" TRS-type(Tip-Ring-Sleeve) "stereo" phone plug. XLR inputs provide direct compatability with professional microphones or electronic instruments with low-impedance balanced outputs. Phantom power can be applied to all XLR inputs. TRS inputs accept either balanced or unbalanced signals from microphones and electronic musical instruments. For quick and easy front mixer patching, input connectors are located on upper rear panel.
Channel Insert Jacks — Channel Connectors
Accommmmodates TRS-type insert plug at 0dB which allows in-line patching of external compressor, limiter, noise gate, equalizer, delay or other external device. When the plug is connected normal channel signal flow is interrupted and the device is inserted after the input head amplifier gain control, EQ stage and before the channel fader. Insert phone jacks are unbalanced. Channel insert in/out jack is designed for use with hybrid 1/4" plug set for patching an effect into a channel insert point.
Channel Input A and B Switch — Channel Controls
Toggles back and forth between inputs A and B. Two separate inputs for each channel eliminate the need for tedious patching and repatching of various input sources.
Channel PAD Switch — Channel Controls
Attenuates the channel's input signal by 20dB prior to the head amplifier gain control. The PAD switch greatly increases the range of input signal levels which can be handled by the mixer, thus permitting the widest possible variety of input sources.
Channel SIGNAL and PEAK Indicators — Channel Controls
Lets you see at a glance which channels are receiving signals and which are overloading.
Channel GAIN Control — Channel Controls
Adjusts the input sensitivity of the input channel between -60dB and -16 dB when the PAD switch is off and between -44dB and 0dB when the PAD switch is on. The continuously variable gain control allows optimum matching with virtually any source, from low-level microphones to high-level electronic instruments.
Channel HPF Switch — Channel Controls
Toggles the High Pass Filter (HPF) on and off. The HPF provides a 12dB/octave rolloff at a frequency of 80 Hz and below.
Channel 3-band EQ with Mid Sweep — Channel Controls
Offers versatile control over wide response range through EQ points which are centered at musically useful frequencies. Low frequency EQ is centered at 80Hz to provide more depth and natural warmth to bottom end. Mid frequency EQ sweep is variable between 250-5kHz to provide considerable control of vocal and instrumental harmonics. High frequency EQ is centered at the "sweeter" 12kHz shelving range which also provides for less aural fatigue. All controls feature center detents at flat response.
Channel MONITOR Control — Channel Controls
Lets you send two separate mono mixes complete with effects to stage or other monitors via the A and B monitor outputs. Since the monitor outputs are pre-EQ and pre-master fader, they are ideal for sending separate mixes to stage monitor systems. The Monitor can also be used as a third effect send buss in order to add another external effects device to the mixer. In such a case you would simply route the effect return signals back into any open channels of the mixer.
Channel EFFECT 1 and 2 Send Controls — Channel Controls
Determines the level of the channel signal sent to the two effect send busses. Effect 1 sends the signal to an external effects processor connected to the Effect Send 1 jack, while Effect 2 can send the signal to either the internal DSP effects processor or to an external effects processor connected to the Effect Send 2 jack.
Channel PAN Control — Channel Controls
Pans the channel signal across the left and right stereo master output busses, thus determining the position of the channel signal in the sound field at the stereo output.
Channel ON Switch — Channel Controls
Switches the channel on and off. The switch is located after the EQ stage and before the channel fader.
Channel Faders — Channel Controls
Control the main level of the input via 60mm faders. The settings of the various input channel faders determine the mix, or overall balance of sound levels between the various instruments or other instruments or other sources connected to the mixer inputs.
EFFECT SEND 1 and 2 Faders — Master Control Section
Adjusts the overall output of two effect mix busses as set by each channel's Effect 1 and Effect 2 send controls. The Effect Send 1 control sets the overall level of the Effect 1 mix signal output at the Effect Send 1 jack. The effect Send 2 control sets the overall level of the Effect 2 mix signal output at the Effect Send 2 jack.
EFFECT RETURN 1 and 2 Controls — Master Control Section
Adjusts the overall input level of the two stereo effect return signals received at the effect return jacks. These signals are applied separately to the monitor and stereo mix busses. If the DSP switch is turned on, the Effect Return Monitor and Level controls adjust the level of the effect signal from the internal digital signal processor and applies it to the monitor and stereo output busses.
Stereo Master L and R Faders — Master Control Section
Controls the overall left and right volume levels of the master stereo mix, as sent to the real panel Speaker out (1 and 2) left and right jacks, the Post-GEQ out left and right jacks.
MONITOR Output A and B Controls — Master Control Section
Controls the master volume of the monitor mix as set by the Monitor controls in each channel and output at the Monitor A and B jacks. These let you feed two independent monitor mixes to different stage or other monitor systems as required.
CD A/B Switch and CD IN Level Control — Master Control Section
The A/B switch toggles between the two CD players connected to the CD A and B inputs. The CD In control determines the input level of the CD playback as mixed with the stereo buss. Connecting two CD players lets you play one through the system while cueing up another.
REC OUT and TAPE IN Level Controls — Master Control Section
The Record Out control determines the amount of stereo signal level going to the external tape recorder. The Tape In control determines the input level of the tape playback as mixed with the stereo buss.
PHONES Jack and Volume Control — Master Control Section
Delivers the stereo mix signal to a set of 8 ohm stereo monitor headphones. The Phones volume control — inconjunction with stereo left and right master faders — adjusts the headphone monitoring level.
PHANTOM Power Switch — Master Control Section
When this switch is turned on, 48 volts of phantom power are applied to the XLR connectors; for use when phantom-powered condenser microphones are connected.
9-band STEREO GRAPHIC EQUALIZER — Master Control Section
Allows fine frequency response shaping of the sterreo master mix as output from the stereo Speaker (1 and 2) outputs. The graphic equalizer has 9 linear controls with center frequencies of 63 Hz, 125Hz, 250Hz, 500Hz, 1kHz, 2kHz, 4kHz, 8kHz and 16kHz. Each control permits 12dB maximum boost or cut. The On switch turns the graphic equalizer on or off.
Stereo VU Meters — Master Control Section
These precision VU meters display the levels of the stereo signals output at the stereo Speaker (1 and 2) outputs. The illuminated VU meters are a useful aid for setting optimum output levels using the left and right stereo master faders.
On-board Digital Effect Processor — Master Control Section
Includes an On switch for turning the internal digital effects processor on and off, a Peak indicator which lights when the Effect 2 send signal is 3dB below clipping, a preset indicator which lights when a non-modified, factory-preset effect is selected, a three-digit program number/parameter value display, Program select and Parameter adjust controls, and Reset switch for recalling the preset parameter values.
Stereo REC OUT and TAPE IN Jacks
The RCA-type Record Out jacks output the same signal as the master stereo mix, but at -10dB line level which make it suitable for cassette decks and many other 2-track recorders. Likewise, the RCA-type Tape In jacks accept a -10dB line level from the stereo tape deck.
CD IN Jacks A and B
Both RCA-type CD inputs accept -6dB line level stereo signals from standard CD players. Two dedicated CD inputs greatly increase the mixer's flexibility by leaving more mixer tracks available for additional microphones and other input sources.
PRE GEQ and POST GEQ Stereo Line Insert Jacks
The Pre- and Post-EQ stereo line insert jacks accommodate TRS-type plugs at +4dB to permit insertion of external stereo effects devices such as compressors, limiters, noise gates or an equalizer before the stereo mix output buss. The insert phone jacks are unbalanced.
EFFECT SEND/RETURN 1 and 2 Jacks
The Effect Send 1 and 2 jacks output at +4dB level the effect signals as set by each channel's Effect 1 and 2 faders. The stereo Effect Return 1 and 2 jacks accept +4dB signal levels from external devices. The Effect Send/Return phone jacks are unbalanced.
MONITOR OUT A and B Jacks
Two Monitor Out jacks let you send independent mono monitor mixes as set by each channel's Monitor control and the master Monitor A and B controls to two separate monitor systems at +4dB level output. The Monitor output jacks are unbalanced.
Stereo SPEAKER 1 and 2 Output Jacks
These are the main speaker-level jacks which output 350 watts into a 4 ohm load or 200 watts into an 8 ohm load. The Speaker 1 and 2 jacks for each channel are wired in parallel so you can send the stereo mix to two separate house stereo monitor systems. The Speaker output jacks are unbalanced.
Dual Whisper Fans
Keeps the power amplifier cool during hours of consistant use.
Recessed POWER Switch
Easily accessible, yet virtually impossible to turn off accidentally.
