On the road or installed in-house, there's simply no such thing as the "perfect" sound reinforcement system. It seems that you always need an extra send, more EQ capability, and a cleaner signal - ad infinitum. And if you find a system that promises everything you need, it'll always be way too expensive.

If, like most other mere mortals, you do have to work within real-world limitations and achieve the best possible sound and greatest system versatility on a limited budget, Yamaha's new lineup of GF-series Mixing Consoles are about as close to perfection as you're likely to get.

If your console requirements include unsurpassed sound quality, extraordinary signal-routing flexibility, compact convenience - and economy, then the quickest path to near-perfection is to simply choose the GF-series model that gives you the capacity you need.

The GF-series Mixing Consoles have been designed to meet the requirements of demanding sound reinforcement applications and installations - with a considerable extra margin of performance and flexibility to accommodate the widest possible range of system configurations and sources. Sound quality has been taken to the attainable limits of signal purity with an absolute minimum of distortion and noise.

From head amps to output stages, the GF-series console circuitry has been designed to deliver the cleanest, quietest signal possible - even under adverse conditions. The GF consoles will still sound clean and precise in situations where other consoles might succumb to RF interference or hum. Special care has been taken in designing the critical head amps for totally natural, open sounding reproduction with line or microphone sources.

Although these consoles are built to the highest mechanical standards and are more than rugged enough to withstand the rigors of road use, they are remarkably compact and lightweight. Even the largest model can be carried by a single person for fast, efficient transportation and setup.

No matter how big or small your gig or installation, there's a GF-series console that will match your needs. From 12 channels to 24, all GF consoles offer the same outstanding sound quality, signal-routing flexibility, versatile features and reliability.

All mono input channels feature both XLR and 1/4" TRS balanced input connectors. The TRS inputs also accept unbalanced signals. All mono inputs feature switchable phantom power for direct compatibility with high-performance phantom powered condenser microphones.

The mono channels feature a 26-dB pad switch in addition to continuously variable 44-dB gain trim for easy level matching with the widest possible range of microphone and line sources. The stereo channels do not have pad switches since they will normally be used for line-level signals, but retain the 44-dB gain trim control for a wide-range level compatibility.

All input channels have an 80-Hz HPF filter switch that can be used to remove rumble, wind noise, and other unwanted low frequencies that can muddy the mix. The mono channels feature 3-band EQ with a sweepable midrange for maximum control precision and flexibility.

For convenient insertion of compressors/limiters, equalizers, or other outboard gear you might want to apply to individual channels, all mono channels have post-EQ insert send/return patch points.

If maximum signal-routing flexibility is one of your prime criteria in choosing a mixer, the GF console's auxiliary send system should prove to be an important feature. These consoles feature no less than 6 auxiliary busses that can be used as effect sends, monitor sends or independent sends for any purpose your system requires.

The mono and stereo channel signals can be assigned to any of the console's 4 group busses and/or the stereo buss via the channel buss assign switches and pan control. A smooth, noise-free linear fader facilitates setting up optimum levels and balance between channels.

Channel ON switches allow individual channels to be switched in or out of the mix without having to change fader settings, while PFL (Pre-fader Listen) switches let you monitor individual channels or groups of channels without having to make any other changes.

For precision level control and easy visual verification linear master faders are provided for all four groups and six auxiliary sends, as are AFL (After-fader Listen) switches for one-touch isolated monitoring. The group busses additional feature TO ST (group-to-stereo) switches and pan pots so that any group signal can be conveniently routed to the console's stereo bus.

Two stereo auxiliary returns are provided, with independent return level controls feeding the group, auxiliary 1 through 4, and stereo busses. AUX RETURN 1 can feed the group 1 and 2, auxiliary 1 and 2, and stereo busses, while AUX RETURN 2 can feed the group 3 and 4, auxiliary 3 and 4, and stereo busses. Both returns also feature PFL switches.

Stereo line-level and headphone monitor outputs are provided with independent level controls. The monitor signal can be taken either from the PFL/AFL buss (the main stereo buss also features an AFL switch), or from the console's tape inputs, which feature a level control and ON switch feeding the stereo buss. Four precision switchable bar-graph meters are provided for visual level monitoring.

The stereo outputs feature insert patch points for convenient insertion of outboard "master" EQ and/or compression/limiting, or any other type of signal processing your mix requires.
