*Power to the YWA-10 is supplied when the connected receiver is powered ON.
*Power to the YWA-10 can be supplied when the connected AV receiver is in the OFF position, only if the AV receiver Network Standby is set to ON. (except for RX-Vx71 or RX-Ax10 series)
Example of connection
YWA-10 allows Yamaha AV products equipped with a NETWORK port and a DC OUT jack (USB) to be connected with a wireless LAN.
Power Requirements
The YWA-10 can be powered via USB from certain Yamaha models. If your Yamaha model does not have an available USB port, the wireless adapter can also be powered by a 5V / 0.5A USB power supply (similar to the wall/USB charger shipped with most mobile phones).

Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ is an optional certification program from the Wi-Fi Alliance that is designed to ease the task of setting up and configuring security on wireless local area networks. Introduced by the Wi-Fi Alliance in early 2007, the program provides an industry-wide set of network setup solutions for homes and small office (SOHO) environments. Wi-Fi Protected Setup enables typical users who possess little understanding of traditional Wi-Fi configuration and security settings to automatically configure new wireless networks, add new devices and enable security. More than 200 products have been Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ for Wi-Fi Protected Setup since the program was launched in January 2007.

Product provides seamless networking without having to run a cat5 cable and install a wall plate. Using with a Yamaha a720 receiver that is replacing a 25 year old Preamp/multiple amp system.

Difficult to install since I have Apple Airport Express Wireless. Installed it after several tries and customer service phone calls. Had to install the DC power from the front of my RX-V671. Not totally keen on that. Takes time to connect to the WiFi. Overall satisfied.

As far as I can tell, this is just a wi-fi router that is powered by the USB connection. WPS is also potentially dangerous as it can be hacked into and your wi-fi passwords can be gotten.
Another silly thing is that if your Yamaha receiver has its USB on the front (mine does) a cable will be sticking out from the front all the time!
For the same amount of money (but minus one ethernet port) I think I would rather get an Apple Airport Express. In my case, I will just repurpose an old first gen aging Airport Extreme to the stereo equipment and buy a new Airport Extreme as my main wi-fi base station.
Originally I tried to extend the network out to the stereo using a first gen Airport Express "g" but, that model does not let you activate the ethernet jack on it when in that mode. Newer "n" Expresses do.
Yamaha should just include wi-fi in its networkable receivers. It is crazy that I can buy a Roku with latest wi-fi and bluetooth for $100.

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS ITEM! I got 2 from [@]...so of course I got the FREE 2 and 1 day shipping. i've been playing my music all over the house! the reason i got 2 is because I got 2 Yamaha systems. one in the bedroom and one in the living room. the ONLY THING is that if there are no firmware updates for this item, then yamaha needs to modify that feature that is listed in the contents when you go into the setup page. but not a big deal! with the first one I got, I admit I DID need some coaching and help from Yamaha on the setup cos i didn't understand a few things. but after that....I WAS GOOD TO GO with the second one. no issues or problems ever. LOVE IT! and with my system in the bedroom, i have this running with the bluetooth as well- the YBA-10. and it's SOOO GOOD!
