POWERFUL HOME THEATER RECEIVER
The HTR-5450 is a 5-channel receiver providing the finest performance and procesing available for music and video sound. The 5 channels are: Left/Right Main, Center, Left/Right Rear Effects. The receiver delivers Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel formats. Yamaha's Digital Sound Field Processing, Cinema DSP and Tri-Field Processing are all included as is Dolby Surround Pro Logic processing. The HTR-5450 also provides Silent Cinema and all channel stereo.
HIGH PERFORMANCE LSIs AND OTHER CIRCUITRY
Yamaha has designed and employed single function IC chips (ASICS). ASICs are more efficient than multi-function chips and provide the most accurate decoding possible. Yamaha's YSS-928 is a 32-bit ASIC providing Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic, DTS, Cinema DSP, Tri-Field Processing. The HTR-5450 incorporates high density Cinema DSP circuitry, utilizing Yamaha's 32-bit YS-928 LSI, two decoding LSIs, a low impedance drive amplifier featuring superior power transistors, and gigantic heat sinks.
DISCRETE POWER TRANSISTORS
Discrete power transistors rather than IC chips are used in the amplifier section to provide the cleanest sound possible. The amp delivers 80 watts each to five channels.

Yamaha's exclusive digital Sound Field Processing for music recreates the acoustic personalities of actual concert halls and other venues, such as the Roxy Theater in L.A., Village Gate in N.Y., Anaheim Stadium, and concert halls and churches in Europe. Other soundfields, include N.Y.'s Bottom Line and Entertainment modes. 35mm and 70mm Cinema DSP multiplies the effects of Dolby Pro Logic and Yamaha DSP to provide the best possible Pro Logic movie theater recreation in your home.
BUILT-IN DOLBY DIGITAL
Discrete surround is the most advanced and realistic encoded surround sound for movies. The new Dolby Digital system is a fully discrete system providing 5.1 channels of sound. Five are full-frequency channels, and the sixth is a low frequency effects channel.
Like Dolby Digital, DTS is a discrete 5.1 channel system. It uses a higher bit-rate for greater resolution and is availabale on DVDs, laser discs, and music CDs.
Yamaha's exclusive Tri-Field Processing applies Digital Sound Field Processing technology to Dolby Digital and DTS to create a true movie theater experience in the home. It develops independent enhanced sound fields for the front signals as well as for left and right surround.

ALL-CHANNEL STEREO DSP
Great for casual listening and parties, Yamaha's 5-channel stereo DSP puts music through all speakers in the system and maintains stereo imaging.
VIRTUAL CINEMA DSP
Provides a realistic multi-channel surround experience using only two speakers.
Building on technology incorporated into its world famous "silent" musical instruments, Yamaha has added HRTF and "Virtual" technology to create a realistic surround movie effect using standard, two-channel headphones.
6-CHANNEL INPUTS FOR EXTERNAL DECODER
The HTR-5450's rear panel has input jacks to accommodate an external 6-channel decoder. So the receiver is ready for DVD-Audio, or any other 5.1 channel format, shoud one be developed.
96 kHz/24-BIT COMPATIBLE
The HTR-5450 is compatible with the 96 kHz/24-bit format of DVD-Audio and will deliver that format in the finest way possible.
NEW UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL
The remote control with the HTR-5450 features preset codes for most manufacturer's products and a subwoofer level control.

With five fully assignable digital inputs (4 optical and 1 coaxial), the HTR-5450 can accommodate digital sources such as DVD, CD, LD, Cable/Sat, D-TV, and MD.
FOUR AUDIO/VIDEO AND FOUR AUDIO-ONLY INPUTS*
The HTR-5450 is a versatile receiver incorporating four sets of audio/video inputs and four audio-only inputs. All the video inputs have RCA jacks and S-video terminals. Includes one set of A/V inputs on the front panel for fast and easy connection, including a digital optical jack.
LOW IMPEDANCE DRIVE CAPABILITY AND IMPEDANCE SWITCHING
Yamaha's famed low impedance drive circuitry is included in this receiver so that it can handle virtually all loads and a wide variety of speakers. For further speaker matching, the amplifier can be set for either 4- or 8-ohm speakers.
LINEAR DAMPING FACTOR CIRCUIT
The advantage of full range, 20 to 20,000 Hz, damping is that it improves the definition and resolution of the sound output throughout the audible frequency range.
A/B SPEAKER SELECTOR
Allows selection of either a first set of speakers main speaker or a second -- or both.
Permits a delayed receiver turn off. You can set it for up to two hours in 30 minute increments.
40-STATION DIRECT ACCESS TUNING
UP to 40 preset AM and FM stations can be grouped in five groups eight stations.These groupings make it easy for family members to easily access their favorite stations or to have musical genres, such as all the jazz stations, grouped together.
BINDING POST SPEAKER TERMINALS
Yamaha's heavy-duty binding post speaker terminals accept banana plugs, spade connectors, and a variety of speaker wire, including heavy gauge cable.
