USB Digital Connection for iPod and iPhone
A USB port on the front panel provides convenient connection for your iPod/iPhone, which also charges when connected. Because the digital signal from the iPod/iPhone is transmitted directly to the AV Receiver, noise interference is minimized and sound quality is much better.
HDMI with 3D and Audio Return Channel
1080p HDMI with 3D and Audio Return Channel (6 In/ 1 Out), including one on Front Panel deliver crystal-clear, all-digital audio and video via a single cable, HDMI dramatically simplifies cabling and helps provide consumers with the highest-quality home theater experience. HDMI can provide an interface between most audio/video sources, such as a set-top box, Blu-ray player, DVD player, or AV Receiver and a video monitor, such as a High Definition Television (HDTV), over a single cable.
Audio Return Channel (ARC) is a distinctive 3D-ready function allows consumers to use a single HDMI connection to transfer digital audio from the TV back to the AV Receiver eliminating the need for a second cable between the TV and the home theater AV Receiver.
Front Panel HDMI Input
An HDMI terminal on the front panel makes it easy to connect a camcorder or digital camera. All of the HDMI terminals are compatible with 3D and CEC, making them convenient for connecting set-top boxes and Blu-ray disc players.
HD Audio with CINEMA DSP 3D
CINEMA DSP 3D provides a wide, high and dense sound field. HD Audio format decoding lets you enjoy HD Audio sources. Virtual Presence Speaker delivers 3-dimensional sound without actual use of presence speakers.
The actually measured sound field data contain the information of the height of the sound images. CINEMA DSP 3D mode achieves the reproduction of the accurate height of the sound images so that it creates the accurate and intensive stereoscopic sound fields in a listening room.
Analog and HDMI Video Upscaling to Full HD 1080p
This model is capable of outstanding upscaling and i/p conversion quality, This AV Receiver will upscale video signals up to 1080p. This means a much better picture with HDTVs capable of 720p, 1080i or 1080p resolution.
This model also features extremely precise motion adaptive and edge adaptive deinterlacing and multi-cadence detection (including 3-2 pull-down).
On-Screen GUI (Graphical User Interface)
This clean and simple interface makes setup and other operations extremely easy. The on-screen display can show album art, provides a choice of various languages and is visible over 3D images.
SCENE for One-Touch Start
The Four SCENE buttons make operating the receiver easier than ever. They are initially set to default settings for BD/DVD Viewing, CD Disc Listening, TV Viewing and Radio Listening. Pressing a SCENE button will automatically launch a number of operations that initiate play of the source controlled by that button. Other SCENE settings are also available, such as iPod Listening, SiriusXM Listening [model dependent], TV Sports Viewing and Action Game Playing. Browsing and selecting the settings is quickly accomplished by changing Input via the front panel and watching the on-screen display. The settings can be selected for one-time use, or they can replace the original default settings. The SCENE names can be changed also.
YPAO Automatically Sets the Best Sound for Any Room
Yamaha’s YPAO system uses a small microphone and sophisticated equalization to automatically set the best sound for any room, no matter where the speakers are. First it checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker. Then it sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a variety of parameters, such as the speaker size, the distance of the speakers and even the sound pressure level, etc. Until it achieves the best sound conditions for your room and you don't have to do anything!
Compressed Music Enhancer
When music is encoded into a digitally compressed format like MP3, the frequency response suffers. This function restores what was lost, so your music always sounds the way it should.

Eco-Friendly Design

The RX-V571 has a low standby power consumption of 0.1W (1.2W in HDMI Standby Through mode) and an Auto Power Down feature (selectable to 4, 8 or 12 hours) which help make this an environmentally friendly receiver

Technology
3D

Yamaha receivers displaying this icon support 3D HDMI® pass-through from 3D-compatible Blu-ray Disc™, game and broadcast devices to 3D-compatible HDTVs. 3D provides a more engaging audio and video consumer experience when using 3D-capable products and 3D media content. Note that special eyewear may be required for viewing 3D content.
DTS-HD Master Audio™

DTS-HD Master Audio delivers sound quality that matches the clear and vivid images of high-definition video. Blu-ray Disc™ and HD-DVD deliver five times the video resolution of standard DVD and produce images with stunning realism. But that's only half of the story. You need incredible sound to complete the high definition experience and DTS-HD Master Audio provides the highest quality multi-channel sound possible. Movies come alive with sound as lifelike as the picture and music becomes as real as a live performance.
Dolby® TrueHD

Dolby TrueHD is Dolby’s next-generation lossless technology developed for high-definition disc-based media. Dolby TrueHD delivers tantalizing sound that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master, unlocking the true high-definition entertainment experience on next-generation discs. When coupled with high-definition video, Dolby TrueHD offers an unprecedented home theater experience that lets you enjoy sound as stunning as the high-definition picture.
HDMI®

HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first and only industry-supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface. With the ability to deliver crystal-clear, all-digital audio and video via a single cable, HDMI dramatically simplifies cabling and helps provide consumers with the highest-quality home theater experience. HDMI can provide an interface between most audio/video sources, such as a set-top box, Blu-ray Disc™ player, DVD player or AV receiver and a video monitor, such as a high-definition television (HDTV), over a single cable.
Depending on the model of product, HDMI can support standard, enhanced or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It can support all currently-available compressed audio formats (such as Dolby® Digital and DTS) and most newer HDMI devices can support lossless digital audio formats like Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio™.

Comments about Yamaha rx-v571_black__u:
I was forced to replace my Onkyo reciever due to the failing of the HDMI ports. I had always heard good things about Yamaha Recievers and wanted something with the capability to handle all my needs both for now and future needs. This A/V reciever had everything I needed. My living room is about 20x19 ft with 12' ceilings. I have a 58" Panasonic plasma TV mounted above my fireplace(which I love) and I use two Polk Audio speakers for left and right stereo, I use a Bose center speaker on the mantle just under the tv and a Polk Audio powered sub woofer. Now I don't really like complicated stuff and I installed the RX-V571 myself, plugged it in and all my HDMI cables(3)and just turned it on and the sound was amazing. Much better than my other reciever. I liked it so much with the simulated surround sound I never bothered optimizing with the YAPO microphone. Plug & Play so to speak. The front panel is easy on the eyes and very well laid out. Now audiophiles may laugh at this but I didn't tweak anything. Right out of the box I loved it! I only use HDMI and I have a 1080P Panasonic Blu-Ray DVD player, Directv HD programing and I use a Roku for streaming movies up to 1080P and I still have 3 more HDMI inputs available. Now I love good quality sound and video (I have a lot of blu-ray dvds) and this setup gives me what I wanted. I like the fact that I have a HDMI input on the front of the receiver if I ever wanted to use my Sony Vaio laptop which has a 1080P Blu-Ray player and a HDMI output. I am totally satisfied with my setup now. If I wasn't I would have taken it back to [@]. You can't go wrong with this receiver and the price was in the range I wanted to pay.

Comments about Yamaha rx-v571_black__u:
My RX-V571 is the heart of my home theater: Toshiba 47" LED TV, Toshiba Blu-Ray player, Sony HDMI DVD player, Sony pro-VCR, KEF floor-standing front speakers, Bose center speaker and 4 Bose satellites, all wall-mounted to form a seven speaker configuration. Room measures 20' X 22'. Sound is superb! The amount of control that you have over sound parameters and signal decoding is great! Most of my components are connected via HDMI cables and the auto-remote capability works fine. I have not noticed any degradation of the picture quality when routing the video signal through the receiver. I've had the receiver for about a month and am very satisfied. Highly recommended!

Comments about Yamaha rx-v571_black__u:
very nice. I currently have a 3d blu ray player, VHS VCR, Direct TV, 5.1 surround sound, and Samsung 55" (UN55D8000) hooked into the receiver. I did have a little problem getting the sound to come out of the 5.1 speakers rather than the tv's, but after going through the menu I was able to fix it (probably would not have been a problem for someone that knows their technology). Everything is running smooth, and I can't be happier. Great product.

I really like this unit. I have my HD Theater projector attached along with a 5.1 Dolby speaker setup. Inputs to the unit included a blu-ray player (HDMI), satellite TV (HDMI), VHS player (analog), and a Sony PS2 (analog). It switches between them seamlessly and gives great audio output for all.

For the price, this was a great value. Handles many components, gives many audio options. I wish the universal remote would allow keystroke memorizing of other component's remotes. I would also like to see this AV receiver integrated with an HD video tuner, and have integrated internet streaming. Why not go all the way and integrate a DVR?

Comments about Yamaha rx-v571_black__u:
I have upgraded an older AVR 235 Harman Kardon receiver who gave-up on me after a long struggle with regular interruptions. Even after sending it for repairs during the warranty, it came back with the same issue. Anyway, I grew tired of smashing it :) so, in a way, I'm happy it permanently stopped working.
Now, I'm pleasantly surprised with the quality with this Yamaha receiver and with the technological advancements. Most probably HK made similar progress as well, but I was reluctant to buy another Harman Kardon after the problems I had with the previous one.
The big surprise came after setting up the system using the YPAO microphone. I couldn't understand why my very large front Infinity speakers were always set to small, while the smaller surround speakers were set to large.
Several attempts and a lot of attention paid to the sweep sounds generated during the test, made me realize that one of my front speakers had poor bass. After a careful analysis, I discovered that one of the metal blades connecting the bi-wiring connectors went missing! I understand now why I had hard time equalizing the response of the old receiver, despite using a special tools for it! Thanks to this new simple but thorough set-up system, the quality of my sound is dramatically improved. I just ordered additional speaker cables to make full use of the nice bi-amp feature of the new Yamaha. This feature is almost hidden and I wonder why it is not advertised in the specs. 5.1 with bi-amp might be more useful than the advertised 7.1
Another nice upgrade is the perfect sync between the TV and the receiver, they talk to each other well, being able to turn them both on-off from the TV remote, or make use of the HDMI bypass feature if only the receiver is switched off.
I also like the way the my old classic iPod interface works. The TV screen shows the song names, etc with album art while the info button on the remote allows the titles to be shown on the receiver's display. To bad the USB port is on the front panel, I would have preferred that white USB cable to be hidden.
I also tested the up-scaling and the video component input forwarding to the HDMI output. It worked well. However, HDMI to HDMI is the ideal solution and I noticed a quality improvement when I connected the cable box with a second HDMI cable.
As an improvement suggestion, I would like to see the extra-bass feature made more flexible: I don't want to use this option when the sound has a dedicated LFE channel (ie Dolby Digital, DTS), but I would like to take full advantage of my sub-woofer when listening to stereo or other non-LFE modes. In this moment the feature can only be full on or full off.
Summarizing, the first contact is positive. I might come back with updates once I'll get used with the system
