Dolby Digital EX
This surround format from Dolby Digital includes an added center rear channel. The rear center channel is actually matrixed into the two rear channels, and is extracted upon playback. (Formerly called Dolby Digital Surround EX, or Dolby Digital Matrix 6.1.)
DTS-HD Master Audio™
DTS-HD Master Audio delivers sound quality that matches the clear and vivid images of high-definition video. Blu-ray Disc™ and HD-DVD deliver five times the video resolution of standard DVD and produce images with stunning realism. But that's only half of the story. In this format, the back surround channel is matrix encoded into the left and right surround channels. For playback, the three channels are separately decoded.

A Sirius-Ready audio system lets you access your favorite SIRIUS Satellite Radio entertainment, including 100% commercial-free music, plus sports, uncensored talk, comedy, exclusive entertainment, world-class news and more, directly through your audio system with the use of an optional SIRIUS Connect Home Tuner kit. This product has a simple connector that allows you to plug the SIRIUS Connect kit and use the controls of this system to access all the content you want. CINEMA DSP Digital
Conventional multichannel audio reproduction systems base their sound on Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, using matrix and steering technologies to create surround sound effects. SCENE – A NEW LEVEL OF OPERATING EASE
With the press of a single button, anyone in the home can enjoy the performance of a Yamaha AV receiver. SCENE buttons found on the front panel, the middle of the remote control and on the AV Controller App are the key to simple receiver operation. For example, pressing the TV SCENE button will turn on the receiver, switch to the TV input and recall your selected DSP surround mode. One button is all it takes. YPAO™ Automatic System Calibration
Yamaha’s YPAO system uses a small microphone and sophisticated equalization to automatically set the best sound for any room, no matter where the speakers are. First, it checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker. Then it sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a variety of parameters, such as the speaker size, the distance of the speakers and even the sound pressure level, etc. Until it achieves the best sound conditions for your room and you don't have to do anything!

The Bluetooth® logo indicates that the product is equipped to use the optional YBA-10 Bluetooth® Wireless Audio Receiver that lets you connect the dock to the receiver and supports A2DP audio streaming. Overall this is a really solid receiver. But there is one problem, you can't turn off the OSD(On Screen Display) volume overlay. So if you want to watch a movie with subtitles and you change the volume you can't see the subtitles. Or even worse you have a friend or family member that is hearing impaired, the overlay blocks the captions every time you change the volume. If that isn't a problem then this is a good option and compares favorably against the onkyo tx-nr609 or pioneer vsx-1021-k.

My son set up my system since there were no printed instructions in the box.My son created a schematic for us to use and it is really simple now for us. If I knew it did not contain installation instructions, I would not have bought it. But now that it is working the way it is, I am glad that we bought it.

I bought it in April 2010, but didn't install till a year later. The setup was easy, remote control works fine with almost all AV appliances, pass-through is convenient, I wish it had an auxiliary audio jack to hook up with non-iPod players.

I set up the RX-V667 in my 15'x17'master bedroom mainly for watching movies and music videos. The 90 watts per channel easily drives my 5.1 speaker setup. The HDMI system with ARC works perfectly between the receiver and television. Yamahas YPAO system instantly and accurately setup the room acoustics and speaker placement. The sound quality is amazing. I am very satisfied with the RX-667. Thank you Yamaha.

I wanted to upgrade my entire Home Theater System because my old system
did not allow me to connect some of my equipment in the manner it was
intended. I was especially concerned about getting a good (great) receiver.
After extensive research and comparison of A/V Receivers if found the
Yamaha RX-V667 to meet all of my requirements.
It was very easy to set up. A great remote control, well laid out. I like the
on screen display. Most of all....Wow, I am hearing sounds that my old system
failed to give me. I now have what I was looking for.
I have one "bone to pick" with the manufacture, "WHY NO PRINTED MANUAL"? It concerns me and leads me to believe that when they have such a good product, why go on the cheap?
All said, would I recommend this receiver....YES, but get on their case about
the manual.

Love this unit! Comes with an auto setup feature for the technically challenged that will set audio levels for each speaker using an included microphone that is used to measure speaker levels. Many features, too many to list here. Unbelievable sound quality. Would recommend 14 guage speaker wire instead of the included wire packaged w/unit. I use Onkyo speakers. Best buy in years.

I looked at a few units before buying this Yamaha. I had a Sony receiver for many years but had to abandon it because it didn't have digital input.
I looked at less expensive units but decided to go with the Yamaha because of the reviews, my previous experience with them, and the setup process that would use the supplied microphone unit to "listen" to the sounds in the room and automatically make setup adjustments.
I really like this unit. GREAT sound quality. The fact that the menus project on my TV is a real bonus. The number of different sound choices is excellent and really makes a difference. The antenna for AM and FM are also very good. I haven't listened to radio in my home for many years due to the lack of having set it up on my last receiver (no antenna).
I still have some more to go to better set up the scene modes, but I'm very happy with this unit. Does everything I need to very well and was easy to understand and set up.

I bought this to replace an older receiver. I had issues connecting my stereo power amp to run speakers in another part of the house and decided to bi-amp those, problem resolved. I found out that to do so I would have to use component cables but decided to go HDMI. The 7.1 separation is great and this receiver sounds much better than the old one.
