Simple Connection and Flexible Placement
Connecting the YSP-800 is much simpler than conventional home theater systems because multiple speaker cables are not necessary. Placement is flexible — the component can be positioned above or below the display on the front-center of the room, or in either of the front corners. It is compact enough that space should not be a problem in almost any setting. It can also be wall-mounted, or placed on a shelf or rack.

IntelliBeam™ Automated Calibration System
The Yamaha exclusive feature ensures optimum multi-channel sound reproduction with accurate image location by monitoring and analyzing the sound with the microphone included with the YSP-800. IntelliBeam™ automatically sets the best beam angles and modes while optimizing the level and frequency response of each beam.
Technology
Dolby Pro Logic II

Dolby Pro Logic II is an improved technique used to decode vast numbers of existing Dolby Surround sources. This technology enables a discrete 5-channel playback with 2 front left and right channels, 1 center channel, and 2 surround left and right channels instead of only 1 surround channel for conventional Pro Logic technology. There are three modes available: “Music mode” for music sources, “Movie mode” for movie sources and “Game mode” for game sources.
Dolby, Pro Logic, and the double-D symbol are registered trademarks of Dolby Laboratories.
DTS NEO: 6

In this format, the back surround channel is matrix encoded into the left and right surround channels. For playback, the three channels are separately decoded.
CINEMA DSP Digital

Conventional multichannel audio reproduction systems base their sound on Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, using matrix and steering technologies to create surround sound effects. Yamaha CINEMA DSP is much more advanced, actually creating richly realized independent sound fields that envelop you in an unmatched surround sound experience. With dialogue, music and effects from ideally located in these separate sound fields, you will hear sound with accurate placement, smooth movement, exceptional clarity and richness, and startlingly realistic presence. It will seem as if the walls of your room have disappeared and you are in the middle of your own immense theater! The decoding circuitry performs Dolby Pro Logic IIx, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, DTS Digital Surround, DTS-ES (DTS-ES Matrix 6.1 and DTS-ES Discrete 6.1), DTS Neo:6 and DTS 96/24 decoding with extreme accuracy, as well as all digital sound field processing.
IntelliBeam

This unit creates a sound field by reflecting sound beams on the walls of your listening room and by broadening the cohesion of all the channels. Just as you would arrange the speaker position of other audio systems, you need to set the beam angle to enjoy the best possible sound from this unit. This unit employs the beam optimization and sound optimization features with the aid of the supplied IntelliBeam microphone, allowing you to avoid troublesome listening-based setup and achieving highly accurate sound adjustments that best match your listening environment. We call these two features “IntelliBeam” generically.
SRS TruBass

SRS TruBass is a psychoacoustic bass enhancement technology developed by SRS Labs, Inc. for speakers and headphone systems that delivers bass up to an octave below the physical capabilities of the speaker’s driver. SRS TruBass technology takes advantage of a spontaneous tendency of the human ears to infer lowrange
audio data when presented with higher-frequency harmonic signals. As a result, our ears can hear the original low-range sound that the speaker system is incapable of producing.
TruBass and the SRS symbol are trademarks of SRS Labs., Inc.
