DOLBY AC-3
Dolby Surround AC-3 is the multichannel audio coding that forms the basis of Dolby Stereo Digital found in the best movie theaters. Technically, it includes five separate discrete, full-bandwidth channels plus a sixth subwoofer channel. The stereo surround effect of AC-3 results in an expanded sense of depth, localization and overall realism.
TRI-FIELD PROCESSSING
To obtain these effects in a home environment, it is necessary to compensate for the differences between a public movie theater and a home media room. Yamaha combines Dolby Surround AC-3 with its own DSP to solve the problem and preserve the sound positioning designed by the movie sound director. When playing AC-3 encoded discs, Yamaha utilizes three sound fields (presence and surround L/R) to acoustically enlarge the sound field to the acoustic size of a movie theater.
YSS-214 CHIP
Yamaha designed and incorporated this sophisticated and powerful new very large scale integrate circuit chip. It supplies 33% more Cinema DSP processing power than those used in the company' s previous model the DSP-A2070.
YSS-213 CHIP
Extremely accurate Dolby Pro-Logic decoding with Yamaha's YSS-213 LSI.
6 AC-3 PROGRAMS
AC-3 Spectacle, AC-3 Musical, AC-3 Adventure, AC-3 General, AC-3 Enhanced, AC-3 Normal.
11 CINEMA DSP PROGRAMS
70mm Spectacle, 70mm Musical, 70mm Adventure, 70mm General, Pro Logic Enhanced, Mono Movie, Variety/Sports, Classical/Opera, Recital, Pop/Rock, Pavilion.
12 HIFI DSP PROGRAMS
The Roxy Theater, Village Gate, Warehouse Loft, Cellar Club, Freiburg Cathedral and 1 additional church, Live concert, plus 5 concert halls in Europe and the US.
DIGITAL AND ANALOG INPUTS/OUTPUTS
30 inputs and 18 outputs including analog, video, and S-video, AC-3/RF, coaxial and optical digital link you to today's and tomorrow's components.
ON SCREEN DISPLAY
When you press a button on the remote control or front panel, the selection appears on the TV connected to the processor. Display can show three-dimensional graphic image of room with speakers for easy system set-up and a selection of controls like Program Display, Center Mode, Parameter Adjsust, Input Level Trim, 5-step Dimmer, and Memory Guard. You can not only command you processor from your listening position, but visually confirm each operating step.
PARAMETER CONTROLS
Let you customize effects such as trim, presence, delay, reverberation, room size, and liveness.
INPUT TRIM WITH INPUT LEVEL OVERLOAD LED
Balance input levels from all sources.
MEMORY GUARD
A feature that prevents the altering of parameters without first disarming the "lock-out." This prevents the accidental alteration or erasure of previously carefully adjusted settings.
SPLIT 4.0V SUBWOOFER OUTPUT
Split subwoofer output (L/R and mono) with variable subwoofer test tone frequency generator for easy set-up.
BASS EXTENSION CONTROL
Accentuates bass by 7 dB at 70 Hz for systems without subwoofers.
LARGER FRONT PANEL DISPLAY
For easy viewing of controls and adjustments. LCD display has been enhanced to provide better contrast and better readability. Fold down front panel door maintains unit's uncluttered look.
TEST TONE ON ALL CHANNELS
Built in test tone generator provides a sequential sweep of the channels to establish proper balance. A subwoofer test tone generator provides a level for adjusting the subwoofer output so that a listener can match the room and the rest of the system.
DIGITAL CINEMA EQ
This parametric and high shelving filter allows timbre matching and equalization for all speakers.
64 KEY LEARNING REMOTE CONTROL
Lets you program and control additional components such as a VCR, Laserdisc player, or TV.
