Bluetooth® Compatible for Wireless Music Streaming
The YHT-3920UBL is equipped with Bluetooth® functionality to let you easily enjoy wireless music playback from smartphones and other devices. The Compressed Music Enhancer from Yamaha is now optimized for Bluetooth audio transmissions to ensure that your music will have vivid, lively sound quality during wireless playback.
Compressed Music Enhancer
When music is encoded into a digitally compressed format like MP3, the frequency response suffers. The Compressed Music Enhancer from Yamaha employs sophisticated digital signal processing using exclusive algorithms to restore what was lost, so the music always sounds the way it should.
4K Ultra HD Pass-through with HDCP 2.2
This system supports the latest HDMI® standards thanks to the transmission of 4K video at 60 frames per second (pass-through only). Fully enjoy the high definition video quality of 4K without degradation along with HDCP 2.2 that fully complies with the latest copyright protection, a standard for 4K video transmission.
YPAO™ Sound Optimization for Automatic Speaker Set Up
YPAO™ (Yamaha Parametric Acoustic Optimizer) analyzes the room acoustics and adjusts various audio parameters for optimum sound in just a few minutes ensuring that the listening area is tuned to provide the best audio experience possible.
Virtual CINEMA FRONT Provides Virtual 5-channel Surround Sound with High Quality and Resolution
As an alternate setup configuration, Virtual CINEMA FRONT allows you to install all of the speakers at the front and enjoy virtual 5.1-channel surround sound when rear speaker placement is not possible.
Extra Bass Provides Rich Bass Reproduction, Even with Small Speakers
This exclusive low-range enhancement technology delivers richer bass than you would expect from the speaker size while maintaining good localization and sound balance even with compact front speakers. When a subwoofer is used, it improves the volume of the entire low range of the speaker system, not only the front speakers, but also enhancing the bass from the subwoofer. You'll enjoy video and music with sound that has exceptional power and presence.
HD Audio with CINEMA DSP
Enjoy HD Audio sources with CINEMA DSP and experience a sound field that allows you to transform the dynamics of the listening environment with the acoustics of famous venues from all around the world.
Discrete Amp Configuration for High Sound Quality
This home theater system was designed with a strong focus on achieving a high level of sound clarity. It employs a discrete amplifier configuration and a low-jitter PLL circuit, which contribute to its excellent audio performance.
HDMI with 3D and Audio Return Channel
The YHT-3920UBL supports 3D video signals. Additionally, the Audio Return Channel function enables audio to be sent and received via the same HDMI cable, so you can hear the sound from the TV via a single HDMI cable.
SCENE for One-touch Start
Pressing a SCENE button powers on the AV receiver and selects the input source and DSP mode. You can reset the buttons for different sources by selecting a source and DSP mode, then pressing a SCENE button for more than three seconds.
HDMI CEC for Easy Operation
Another benefit of HDMI is the availability of CEC functionality. When the unit is connected to a CEC compatible TV, the receiver will turn on and off together with the TV and you can use the TV remote to control the volume. CEC also provides advanced functionality with other components. For example, you can use the receiver’s remote control to command source players with functions like skip, play and pause.
*All connected devices must be HDMI CEC compatible. Some CEC compatible
TVs / players may not work.
Subwoofer Trim for Improved Sound Imaging
The Subwoofer Trim Control enhances the low frequencies by avoiding overlap with the front speaker output. This will result in a cleaner, more focused soundstage while providing a seamless frequency response. When subwoofer frequency overlap occurs in conventional systems, the overall sound is “pushed” toward the subwoofer. Subwoofer Trim Control takes care of this by separating the low subwoofer frequencies cleanly, thus stabilizing the front stage while providing a well-balanced enhanced bass sound.
AV SETUP GUIDE for Easier Installation
The AV SETUP GUIDE makes it much easier to perform the set up process. This app assists you with cable connections between the AV receiver and source devices. Additionally, it guides you through various settings such as speaker connections, TV and source device connections and power amplifier assignments. System illustrations and actual AV receiver images help you understand how to make the connections between devices. It is available in multiple languages and is designed for iOS and Android™ tablets.
ECO Mode Lowers Power Consumption by 20%*
When ECO mode is turned on it can reduce power consumption by about 20 percent.
*Compared to power consumption when ECO mode is off (Yamaha measurement).
Selectable Auto Power Standby
Auto Power Standby lets you save energy by automatically turning off the receiver's power after 20 minutes, two, four, eight or 12 hours.
Bluetooth® is a technology for wireless communication between devices within an area of about 10 meters (33 ft) employing the 2.4 GHz frequency band, a band which can be used without a license.

4K Ultra HD Pass-through
4K Ultra HD pass-through receives super high-definition resolution video and passes it to a 4K compatible monitor. This ensures compatibility with the latest super high resolution video formats.
High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) is to protect digital entertainment content against unauthorized interception and copying between devices. HDCP 2.2 is the latest version designed especially for 4K video transmissions.
HDMI® (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is the first industry supported, uncompressed, all-digital audio / video interface. Providing an interface between any source (such as a set-top box or AV receiver) and an audio / video monitor (such as a digital television), HDMI supports standard, enhanced or high-definition video as well as multichannel digital audio using a single cable. HDMI transmits all ATSC HDTV standards and supports 8-channel digital audio with bandwidth to spare to accommodate future enhancements and requirements. When used in combination with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection), HDMI provides a secure audio / video interface that meets the security requirements of content providers and system operators.

YPAO™ Automatic System Calibration
The Yamaha Parametric Acoustic Optimizer (YPAO) uses a small microphone and sophisticated equalization to automatically set the best sound for any room, no matter where the speakers are. First it checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker. Then it sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a variety of parameters, such as the speaker size, the distance of the speakers and even the sound pressure level, until it achieves the best sound conditions for your room.
CINEMA DSP Digital™
Conventional multichannel audio reproduction systems base their sound on Dolby® Digital and DTS Digital Surround™ decoding, using matrix and steering technologies to create surround sound effects. Yamaha CINEMA DSP Digital™ is much more advanced; actually creating independent sound fields that envelop you in an unmatched surround sound experience. With dialogue, music and effects located in separate sound fields, you will hear sound with directionality, smooth movement, exceptional clarity and presence.
Compressed Music Enhancer
Yamaha employs sophisticated digital signal processing with exclusive algorithms to enable playback that improves the performance of compressed music formats, including MP3 and WMA. With the Compressed Music Enhancer, highs and especially lows are richer and smoother, bringing music back to life to be as close to the original recording as possible.
SCENE – A New Level of Operating Ease
With most AV components, watching or listening to what you want requires a number of steps. You have to turn on the AV receiver, turn on another component like a Blu-ray Disc™ player, select the source, select the surround mode and then press play. With the SCENE feature from Yamaha, all you need to do is press one button and both components turn on, the correct DSP setting is made, and play begins.
Yamaha has developed a natural, realistic DSP algorithm for headphones. Parameters for headphones have been set for each sound field so that accurate representations of all the sound field programs can be enjoyed with a pair of headphones.

Comments about Yamaha yht-3920:
I am not an audiophile, just an average guy who wanted a surround sound system to play music and enhance his TV watching experience in his man cave. This system is great for both! I had also just purchased a top quality used turntable to play my old albums and I needed a good receiver. Unfortunately, this system does not have a phono input, which I really wanted. That said, for about $15 you can buy a decent turntable pre-amp to connect your turntable to an audio input. I also used to have wireless rear speakers that I loved! This one has wired speakers. Luckily enough, I have an acoustic ceiling which allowed me to hide the wiring.
The sound has wonderful, crisp highs and clear bass response. The first thing I did was watch an action movie with lots of guns and explosions, and it literally felt like I was there with bullets wizzing by my head! I also use the Bluetooth all the time to play music from my phone. I wanted this so I could play my drum set along with my favorite albums. Even with the volume of my drum set, this system plays plenty loud enough without distortion so I can get into my music while I'm drumming.
For the money spent, I think this is the perfect system for guys like me. It really is, however, 4 1/2 stars because of the lack of phono input and wired speakers. Electronics companies need to realize that vinyl is still being manufactured and listened to by older and younger audiences.
