Three-Way/Four-Driver Bass Reflex Speaker System
Yamaha's NS-777 speaker system has been designed specifically for home theater applications. The floor standing speaker is a bass-reflex design that can be used for main channels and incorporates a pair of 8" Polymer-Injected Mica Diaphragm (PMD) cone woofers, a 5" midrange cone driver and a 1” aluminum dome tweeter. For improved imaging, the midrange and tweeter utilize Yamaha's exclusive waveguide horns.
Waveguide Horn
Unlike most homes, movie theaters use sound absorbing materials on walls and ceilings. The result is that the sound reaching your ears is the sound wave produced by the speakers rather than reflected off the walls. Yamaha has created wave guides that greatly reduce reflected sound and increase the proportion of directly generated sound waves reaching your ears. The result is a clear and precise sense of sound direction and placement.
Internally Wired with Monster Cable™
Yamaha has chosen to ensure optimum sound quality by internally wiring some of the components with Monster Cable™. This ensures a clean, clear signal from the crossover network to the speaker drivers.
Speaker Stands Included
Yamaha's matching speaker stands provides the solid footing necessary for full floor contact, enhanced stability, and minimal vibration resonance. The stands also provide an attractive counterpoint to the cabinet.
Magnetic Shielding
The speaker is magnetically shielded, so it can be placed on a TV or video monitor without degrading the picture via stray magnetic fields.
Bi-Wiring Capability
To further maintain signal purity, Yamaha provides bi-wiring capability for the NS-777 speakers. There are separate +/- terminals for the woofer(s) and other driver(s). The separation reduces modulation distortion and better sound quality.
Performance Enhanced by a Handsome Cabinet
The EF series speakers are enclosed in an Elliptical Form cabinet with a high gloss black piano finish which provides solid construction with minimal sound diffraction.
New Grill Design
New grill design and grill cloth provide an attractive and acoustically transparent protective cover for the drivers.

Comments about Yamaha ns-777:
My first experience with Yamaha speakers began in 1997 with my first set of bookshelf speakers which I still have today. After that I had to continue my experience with Yamaha speakers. In 2008 I purchased a set of NS-777 performance speakers from then on nothing else would do. Today I have finish my home theater with the purchase of two NS-333 for speaker #6 & 7 my performances series is complete.
The NS-777 are the best speakers I have heard. The range of these speakers are perfect they are not to high or bright, like other speakers I've heard that try to push the high frequency past a comfortable levels. The low frequencies match perfectly, mid bass to low bass to subsonic bass from the subwoofers seamless. If anything were to happen to the speakers I would replace them with the same series no questions asked.
Thank you for the best speakers I've ever had.

Comments about Yamaha ns-777:
Ns-777's powered by a Yamaha htr-6130 receiver, combined (for the time bring) with a Polk cs1 center, and a Yamaha 10" powered sub. In a mid sized room, ~10x15 or so, open door ways and hall down rear wall.
Looks! They have it! Slick and refined. I am currently showing them off coverless, but either way they look great! A semi-con would be the install of the feet, the screws are a bit of a fight to get in and tight. The holes are a bit small and too snug for the screws, but will go in. This is a semi-con as it makes sense, to prevent back out and/ or rattles. The speakers are larger than I had expected, not a problem, just surprised. Be sure to get a tape measure out and estimate your situation if space is a constraint.
These speakers are very well capable of a wide range. They can nearly cover the range of my sub. I listen to anything from classical, to electronica, and much in between! Movies with good depth of sound are well reproduced, first test was with Star Trek (new movie), as I knew it sometimes gave my sub a good workout! Speech is clear, and background sounds.... sound as they should, in the background. My highs are crisp and clear, although I am mismatched, being the towers are metal tweeters, and my Polk center is silk.
Regardless, I have constantly enjoyed these speakers, and all my Yamaha products, and will be purchasing a ns-444 center to complete my front section!

Comments about Yamaha ns-777:
Seeing these physically in front of me, for the first time, and noticing the smooth polished design that was implicated and brought over from the yamaha grand piano, made me jump inside from all of the excitement.
I was taken aback of how attractive and expensive these speakers looked on the exterior. Keeping the grills on or off made no difference, either way it was a gazing magnet.
However, I was very curious about the sound it produced also.
As soon as I hooked them up, I ran a few different genres through these speakers, and must say that at first I was a bit dissapointed. I had them cranked up to the max, and was a bit surprised, because some songs went well while others distorted. But then again, i realized; It all depends where you got your music from. After a little while of using these, I decided to do some more research on these speakers. Digging through out reviews and forums on yamaha, i got to the point.
Yamaha produces speakers which provide what you put in. If you listen to low quality bitrate music or a song that was harshly recorded, that is exactly what you are going to hear from these speakers.
I will consider myself an audiophile, since I enjoy taking in the different styles of music that comes out in the world. As I sat in the chair next to these speakers, that were hooked up in front of me, i closed my eyes and listened intently to every note and every sound coming out of these yamaha's. I understood how well these speakers were made. You can hear how each frequency is pleasantly being accommodated, without having any drop outs.
I've listened to Enya, Andrea Bocelli, Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Kate Havnevik, some hip hop and dance music. Everything sounded great!!!
With the movies these speakers are also great!!!
Yes, I know that these are not comparable to B&W, Klipsch or Polk, but I believe that each speaker has it's own personality. No Speaker is the same, each and every one of them is different.
