Comments about Yamaha ns-aw570_white:
Acquired these for backyard patio / pool area. I mounted them onto the concrete wall of our Lanai about 9 ft apart just below the 8.5ft ceiling at the rear of our seating area, angled down and out toward the pool. They are driven by a dedicated 50W/Ch amp just inside the house which is in turn connected to our main audio system pre-amp so it can be run as a separate zone off whatever is playing on the main system including the HDTV audio or if desired be driven separately off network or portable MP3 player based media.
I found that listening to this class of speaker in the big box stores was pretty much no help and I wasn't interested in spending what I would have to in a specialty audio store. What attracted me to these were all of the positive user reviews on various web sites and several features that seemed to make sense to me for this application.
1. 6.5" woofers which are about as large as you'll see in the majority of small speakers sealed for outdoor use. The bass with these is very reasonable if well mounted near a ceiling/wall corner where you can reflect the low frequencies effectively. If you are a "Basshead" nothing in this size will make you happy.
2. Dual tweeters in each cabinet angled away from each other to provide better dispersion over the larger outdoor area. I like to hear the acoustic instruments and vocal detail so this was a big one for me.
3. Wide frequency range extending beyond audible at the high end. You may not hear it outright, but it's part of the experience.
4. Yamaha quality reputation
The speakers are easily driven by the 50W/ch amp without even a hint of strain and could easily earn me complaints from neightbors to either side and possibly across the lake beyond the pool if I were to turn up the volume.
We have audiophile class planar speakers in the main house so I was prepared to be underwhelmed with these. Instead I have been very pleased with them and what they do for the outdoor area of our home which we use all year long in South Florida. The differences in audio quality between our indoor and outdoor systems are very obvious to me but they seem to fade into each other at the doors without appreciable conflict and unlike many small box speakers, I can listen to these for hours while relaxing or working outside without rapid listener fatigue.
Initial sound quality was a bit muddy and even a little disappointing at first but quickly improved with play time as the speakers loosened up a bit. I am probably approaching 100 hours on them and they continue to improve in clarity and detail beyond my expectation for an outdoor speaker especially in this size/price range. We've had a number of guests comment and ask about them and then be surprised at how relatively little they cost. They really add to the enjoyment of the outdoor space for us and I recommend these if you are looking to add low cost listenable audio to your outdoor spaces or are looking to replace another speaker system out there.

Comments about Yamaha ns-aw570_white:
I mounted my speakers under a patio roof. The whole process was quite simple and the sound quality from my Denon receiver and satellite radio is very good. Once the speakers are broken in, I expect the bass quality to improve. All in all, I am happy with my purchase.

Great sound / limited mounting
By Fatmax
from Dallas
Pros
- Attractive Design
- Good Power Output
- Great Sound Quality
Cons
- Limited mounting options
Best Uses
Comments about Yamaha ns-aw570_white:
Sound is great. No complaints there. Mounting brackets are plenty strong. However the mounting brackets limit your ability to mount the speakers from a ceiling or overhang so I had to purchase an additional mount to make these work. Probably would have looked at something different given the additional cost involved.
