Captures data, not sounds
The MDR-3 works like a standard cassette tape recorder, but it doesn't record sounds. Rather, it records the Electone's note information and stores it as data on convenient floppy disks.
Correct mistakes, or add new parts
The MDR-3 is much more flexible than a tape recorder- it keeps all of the different parts of your performance separate so you can go back and change or correct any part as you like. For example, say you made a mistake on the Upper keyboard part. To correct this, you simply re-record the Upper part while listening to the playback of the other parts of your performance.
Build a song one part at a time
For example, you can start by recording the Accompaniment, simply playing the auto-rhythm, bass and chords. Then, while listening to the Accompaniment part, you can add some extra keyboard percussion sounds. Then record the Pedal, Lower Keyboard, upper Keyboard and Lead parts- one at a time, while listening to the parts you've already recorded.
Great for learning, practicing, and listening
You'll find many uses for the MDR-3, whether you're a beginner or a seasoned professional. And since the MDR-3 holds up to 16 songs on a single floppy disk, it's an ideal 'music source' for just listening. You can play back any one song, or the entire list of songs, as many times as you like.
Store all types of Electone data
Since the MDR-3 stores large amounts of digital information, you can also use it as a quick and convenient data filer for all of your user-programmed Electone data.
