The MU10XG contains 32-note polyphony with 4MB waveROM and 3 independent effects blocks with 64 reverb, echo, chorus and other effects.

Yamaha put three professional effects processors in the MU10XG. Also there are dual mic and line inputs in to let you blend your voice or acoustic instrument with the MIDI music — and add digital effects to both — to let you precisely shape your entire composition.

The MU10XG connects directly to the serial port of PC and Macintosh computers with the included adapter cable and the MU10XG's "To Host" connector. You can even make your laptop computer into a laptop MIDI studio by connecting the MU10XG with your computer and a MIDI keyboard. The MU10XG operates from six AA batteries or the included power adapter so it can go anywhere your laptop can.
