You can't argue with the fact that if money were no object, then most of us would have every synth/module and effects processor we could lay our hands on, as we are all on that permanent quest for the 'dream' sound. Back on Planet Earth however, we realise that money is an object to most musicians. So why not build in so many sounds and individual effects processors, that your listener 'thinks' you have a rack the size of a small house? ...Introducing the MU90R.

MU90R
Today's music is more demanding than ever before. Musicians not only need bigger and better sounds, they need more of them too. Enter the new Yamaha MU90R. A true musical powerhouse for both studio and stage, the MU90R is the stand-alone tool of choice for virtually any musical application.
Stunning, Dynamic Voices
No matter what kind of music you're into, the MU90R has all the sounds you need. Packed into this latest member of the stellar MU-series is an incredible total of 779 realistic, dynamic instrumental Voices plus 30 Drum Voices. These new Voices are the richest, punchiest, and most authentic instrument sounds we've ever created - just the thing you need to put your music over the top.
32-Part Multi-Timbral Capacity
And to make sure you never run out of Voices, the MU90R gives you full 32-Part multi-timbral capacity - allowing you to play up to 32 different instrument "Parts" at the same time and effectively giving you the power of two tone generators in one. Plus, with its 64-note polyphony, the MU90R can handle even the most complex compositions, with no lost notes.
General MIDI and XG Compatible
The MU90R is fully compatible with both General MIDI- for use with the wealth of available GM music data - and Yamaha's powerful XG format, which ensures forward compatibility with the sophisticated and expressive song data of that increasingly popular format.
A/D Inputs
Fully integrated A/D inputs for mixing external sound sources with the MU90R's Voices and effects.
Multi-Effects
Versatile multi-effects with six independent effect sections and flexible routing system.
Built-In TO HOST
Built-in TO HOST terminal for instant integration with a computer.
Awesome Four-Part "Performances"
Special Performance mode, for stunningly powerful and rich live performance sound. (Features 100 Preset and 100 User Performances.) The powerful Performance mode gives you exceptionally rich and dynamic sound for playing live. In this mode, the MU90R functions as a four-Part tone generator, with all Parts controlled over a single MIDI channel.
You can play four different Voices at the same time from your keyboard - either in a huge layer, or with sophisticated keyboard and velocity splits. What's more, independent filter, EG, EQ and vibrato settings give you extraordinarily flexible control over each of the four Parts.
Performance Mode (100 Preset/100 User)
And for those who would rather play than program, we've come up with 200 killer Performances (100 Preset/100 User) that you can use right out of the box. Running the full spectrum from sumptous and delicate to massive and in-your-face, these sounds are the stuff hits are spun from. Whatever style you play - from rock, funk, or jazz to rave, jungle, or trance - the MU90R has all the Performance sounds you need to give your music the cutting edge it deserves.
Two Individual Outputs
Two individual outputs for extra processing flexibility.
General MIDI and New XG
Compatibility with General MIDI and a new XG (Extended General MIDI) format.
User Interface
Exceptionally clear and intuitive user interface.
Six Independent Multi-Effect Sections
In today's music, effects are no longer just an afterthought - they're absolutely crucial to the overall sound. The MU90R not only gives you an incredible array of professional-quality effects, it also has a convenient, flexible system for using them to process the Voices. Six independent effect sections are built into the MU90R: Reverb (12 types), Chorus (14 types), Variation (61 types), Insertion 1 and 2 (43 types each), and five-band EQ.
Multi-Effect: System or Insertion
All the effect sections of the MU90R are routed in one of two ways: System or Insertion. System applies the selected effect to all 32 Parts and the two A/D inputs (with independent send/return controls, of course), while Insertion applies the selected effect to a single Part. Reverb and Chorus are System effects, while Insertion 1 and 2 use Insertion routing.
Variation Effects
Variation effects can be either System or Insertion. What this means is that you can put two or three different effects on specific Voices, yet still have separate Reverb and Chorus effects for the overall mix. For more complex applications, the MU90R features two individual outputs that let you route specific Parts to external effects - separate from the main stereo output.
Convenient A/D Input Function
With the A/D Input function and the two front-panel INPUT jacks, you can connect external audio sources (such as a microphone, electric guitar, keyboard or CD player) and mix those signals with the Voices - without the need for an external mixer. What's more, these two inputs are handled in the same way as the other Parts - which means you can apply effects to them, and even control their volume, EQ, and effects automatically via a connected MIDI sequencer.
To get you instantly up and playing, the MU90R has special A/D Part presets for various applications - complete with proper gain settings and suitable effects.
Powerful Editing Features and Expressive Control
The editing functions of the MU90R provide comprehensive sound-shaping control - featuring independent filter, envelope, EQ, vibrato, and velocity-related settings for each of the 32 Parts. Plus, there's an Assignable Controller function that lets you use the MIDI controller of your choice to control various Voice and effect parameters in real time.
