A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement)
A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement) is an original wood reforming technology developed by Yamaha. Through precise controll of temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure, the molecular properties of the wood can be manipulated into a more acoustically ideal condition, similar to the molecular characteristics of woods in instruments that have been played for years.
New Designed Bracing Pattern
A modified non-scalloped bracing design retains the L series’ characteristic bright tone while enhancing low-end tone.
High Comfortable Traditional Neck Profile
A reevaluation of string spacing, string height, fingerboard binding, and neck taper led to a new neck shape that better fits today’s raditional players. The new design offers stable grip and smooth playability over the full length of the neck.
New 5-ply neck designs are constructed of rosewood and mahogany plies. The design integrates the neck, head, and body into a single unit creating a powerful, rich sound. This approach also creates a strong, stable neck that resists twisting and warping.
The small-bodied LS has a long history with Yamaha. Featuring excellent tonal balance it delivers a big, confident sound for its size. Its delicate sound is ighly recommended for finger-style guitarists.

Comments about Yamaha ls6_are:
I used to have the regular Yamaha LS6 acoustic (see review) and cannot say enough about that surprisingly awesome unit... Best Bang for the Buck indeed.
I did sell it and just purchased the new LS6 ARE... for 3 specific reasons.
a) The redesigned neck
b) The ARE top
c) The SRT pickup
The new LS6 ARE is every bit as good as the LS6... and then some.
The redesigned neck makes a huge difference in playability. Right out of the case the neck and string spacing's felt natural.
The Quality Control of Yamaha Guitars cannot be matched. You would have to spend 4x's as much to get near the quality and preciseness offered here.
It's simply a great sized instrument that is fun to play all the time... anywhere.
Having said that, there were a few things I found that would have put me "Over the Top" in love, if they were not an issue. Firstly the case, It's little more than a padded gig bag. It's adequate but in no way compares the LS6 case which was outstanding.
Then there is the Spruce Top shading. Everyone I saw had a slight mismatch on color. One side would be off just a little... some were very obvious. But finish wise... Yamaha has it down to an Art.
The tiniest issue I have is that the End Pin Jack is exposed and I would have loved a small rubber cap or cover for it.
Overall... Very... Very... Nice. Love It.
It is priced about $100 more than the LS6. Comparing all things... I would have liked a better case for that. But it's not a bad price... I'd say "Fare" !
Is the LS6 ARE a markedly improved LS6? The change in the neck alone was the game changer for me.
It will be my go-to guitar. Is the $100 extra worth it? That's the big question. If, the LS6 had the same neck profile as the LS6 ARE... I'd not have bought the LS6 ARE.
But is the Neck profile & SRT pickup worth the extra? ... all I can say is... "Probably"... After all ... I did buy one.
It's pretty petty, when your only real negative is that the case it came in was a little underwhelming.
But for a guitar that is an improvement on the LS6 and you get to plug it in to boot..... Awesome... Home Run !! Way to go Yamaha.
Service and delivery comments:
Yamaha's Customer Service (Online) is fantastic. I have had many, many conversations that have felt genuine and resourceful.
I bought mine from a Huge Music Outlet (Cosmo Music) Online and was very impressed with the entire procedure.
