POPULAR BY DESIGN.
Progressive designs and effortless playability make the RBX series our best-selling basses. Their commanding looks and big low-end tone equip these RBX basses to take on any challenger. The ergonomic body design and 3-D headstock are identifying qualities of RBX374 and RBX375 basses. The smooth tapered feel of the bolt-on neck along with the specially designed humbucking pickups and active circuitry create a comfortable feel. The RBX170 bass shares the same unique body shape with big brother RBX374 and has a neck made of quality maple with rosewood fingerboards. Two volume knobs and a master tone control the J-and split-style pickups. These basses are the perfect choice for value-minded players who demand top-of-the-line quality.

Comments about Yamaha rbx170:
I am a proffesional guitarist. I bought this bass for my 17 year d daughter. So she can jam with her brother and I. I played this model at 3 different stores. I compared it with every bass they had in the same price range. I was always happiest with the yamaha. It has the best tone, nice playable neck and a really cool look to it. My friend, a proffesional bass player, recommended GHS Boomers 45 - 90. Put the on and the frett noise is almost gone, but the sound is so much better now and the 90 gauge is much easier for my daughter to press down. To sum it up. If your looking for a great bass at a great price? Look no further. This is the one you need
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Yamaha rbx170:
I was in the market for a reasonably priced bass to replace an old Fender Precision copy that I've had for over 20 years. I only play bass for recording in my home studio - I'm a guitar player. While at Guitar Center recently I noticed this Yamaha bass for a very low price, and it looked great in black. I picked it up and was surprised to find it had a nice neck which was very playable. I plugged it in to a Hartke bass amp and the sound was fantastic, especially on the split pickup. The ability to mix the two pickups enables me to get just about any tone that I want. The action is set just a little high, so I will try lowering the strings slightly, but it is so much better than my old one it's not a big deal. The bass reminds me of a friend's Alvarez. I especially like the light weight - much lighter than the old Fender copy and a Jazz Bass I compared with it in the store. I would recommend this bass without hesitation to anyone.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Yamaha rbx170:
This is the second bass I have purchased and am very pleased.
I bought the old violin sunburst and it is beautiful. The action is smooth and the tone is fantastic. I've talked with two other musicians since and they told me it was a great bass, especially for the money.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
