- Entirely new strainer system (patent pending) created for this series
- Silent Throw-off System features a smooth action that eliminates contact noise when engaging the snares. The three individually-tensioned snares are easy to attach for quick head changes and tuning
- Triple Snare System ensures a bright, defined tone, even when playing pianissimo. A fourth snare, made of high-carbon steel, is also included
- The unique 30°/45° Double-cut bearing edge allows the middle ply to vibrate first so the entire shell vibrates faster. This results in a more focused tone
- Solid Rosewood Shell , developed using the Yamaha stave construction process, produces a warm, rich tone
- Bottom head's deeper bed gives a quicker snare response and crisper tone. The rounded edge shape of the snare bed also improves response and tuning accuracy
- New three-piece tubular lug reduces shell contact and improves resonance, thus enhancing the natural vibration and tone of the shell
- Drums were designed with guidance from world-renowned percussionists combined with 40 years of Yamaha concert drum experience
