The Yamaha Advantage flute features an extremely durable post design. This durability comes from a slightly wider base of the post allowing it to absorb additional stress from student handling. This strong post design is a common feature on ALL Yamaha student flutes.

No student or band director wants the problems associated with an instrument being out of adjustment. The Yamaha advantage flute addresses this problem by using an innovative adjustment screw design with a screw resistance material made from nylon, an extremely durable plastic.

The body design incorporates 4 different rib sections. Ribs are where the posts get attached to, as opposed to attaching the posts directly to the body of the flute. By using 4 separate ribs, any stress from student use is dispersed along a larger area. Repair technicians also appreciate the ability to repair and replace individual ribs much easier.

Yamaha student flute have been widely recognized as having an excellent headjoint for beginning students. The Yamaha Advantage flute is no exception. By using the CY style headjoint, beginners obtain a bigger sound with excellent projection, characteristics that will enhance their sound as they move through intermediate and professional level instruments.

Teachers and students across the world are learning more about the benefits of using an offset G key system. This allows the 4th finger of the left hand easier reach for the G key. Advantages of this style include: less stress and fatigue on the hand, easier to promote good hand position for students and a more secure hold on the instrument for beginners.

The key shapes for all Yamaha flutes have been designed with ergonomics in mind. A good example of this would be the edges on the lower right hand keys being rounded to facilitate easier access to lower notes.

This feature was previously found only on the professional level Yamaha flutes. The mechanism automatically closes the lower of the two G keys when high E is fingered. This allows for improved venting and a much more secure and in-tune high E.
