The construction of all student level trombone bells is what is commonly referred to as a two-piece construction. The final 'flair' of the bell is one separate piece from the stem of the bell. Traditionally in musical instrument manufacturing to attach these two pieces the manufacturer would overlap them creating a seam both visible to the eye and twice as thick preventing the metal from resonating properly. Yamaha has overcome this problem with a technique called pluzuma welding whereby the two pieces of a student trombone bell are fused together rather than overlapped and welded.

A commonly overlooked area of most student trombone is the durability of the case. Students and parents are demanding of a durable, yet lightweight carrying case. This case must be able to withstand all types of use and abuse from bus stop to band room. The molded plastic design and luggage style latches of the Advantage trombone case provide the needed security necessary for student use.

The use of this material for the outer slide of the Advantage trombone gives the beginning student excellent durability for their slide. Additionally the process for manufacturing this slide is exceptionally hi-tech resulting in a consistent diameter and an airtight operation.

The finish applied to the Advantage trombone is a process called electrostatic. This innovative method electrically charges the lacquer particles to create a uniform and exceptionally durable lacquer finish to the instrument.
