I'm a professional musician and was looking for a quality horn for home practice. The YTR-4335GII meets my needs perfectly. The many upgrades on this Series II trumpet are significant and make it a joy to play.

The materials and workmanship are first rate and on par with Yamaha's professional-grade brass instruments. In this case, the Made in China stamp doesn't matter. The upgraded Monel valves are an absolute must and the gold brass bell and lead pipe add a genuine sonic improvement over the prior model. I wanted the convenience of a lacquered finish so I did not have to wipe down the instrument after every playing session as is required with a silver plated finish.

I also own a silver Bach Stradivarius and a silver Yamaha Bobby Shew trumpet. Surprisingly, this lacquered 4335 compares quite favorably to these costly pro horns. I can honestly say the similarities in tone and playability far outweigh the differences between these three trumpets.

I consider the YTR-4335GII to be an excellent step-up horn and a great value. Although not exactly an inexpensive horn, it is a very good trumpet for the price. I am pleased with my purchase and can recommend this trumpet to my students without hesitation.
