Connecting an External Iomega Zip or Jaz SCSI Drive to a PSR9000 and 9000PRO

Last Update: 12/19/2002

The PSR9000 and 9000PRO come with a 50-pin SCSI-2 port to connect with an external Iomega SCSI Zip ™ or Jaz ™ drive.

NOTE: Before connecting a SCSI Jaz Drive, make sure that the keyboard has the latest operating system installed.

Connecting the External SCSI Iomega Drive:

While the keyboard is turned OFF, set the 'SCSI ID' on the back of the Iomega Zip or Jaz drive to a number that is not being used by another SCSI device.

NOTE: The SCSI ID for the keyboard is fixed at 7, therefore, any number from 0 to 6 can be selected. If there are other SCSI devices connected to the keyboard, select an unused ID number.

2) If necessary, set the SCSI [Termination] switch on back of the Iomega drive to 'I' (ON).

NOTE: This applies only if the Iomega drive is the last or only SCSI device on the keyboard SCSI port.

3) Connect the Iomega SCSI drive cable from the SCSI port on the rear panel of the keyboard to the SCSI port on the Iomega drive.
NOTE: The Iomega SCSI Jaz drive conforms to SCSI-2 specifications and comes with a 50-pin to 50-pin SCSI-2 cable. However, the Iomega SCSI Zip drive meets SCSI-1 specifications and requires a 25-pin D-Sub to 50-pin SCSI-2 cable in order to connect it to the keyboard.

4) Turn ON the Iomega SCSI drive.

Checking the SCSI Drive Connection and Configuration:

NOTE: Make sure that the appropriate disk is correctly inserted into the Iomega drive.

1) Turn ON the keyboard.

2) Press the [DISK/SCSI] button.

3) Press the [I] LCD button to select the 'CHECK DISK' page.

4) Press the [C] LCD button until 'SCSI' is highlighted. The SCSI drive should be indicated in the 'DEVICE' parameter field in the lower left corner of the 'CHECK DISK' page.
NOTE: If the cable is connected properly and the Iomega drive is ON, but the drive is still not recognized by the keyboard, turn OFF the keyboard and the Iomega drive and try changing the SCSI ID of the Iomega drive.
