Jim Self Performs for Symphony's Anniversary

BUENA PARK, CA (June 23, 2004) — Yamaha artist Jim Self and composer/conductor John Williams helped to celebrate the 25th anniversary concert of the Pacific Symphony at the Orange County Performing Arts Center.

Mr. Self played the Finale of Mr. William's Tuba Concerto (and the Clarinet Polka as an encore). This concerto has breathed new life into the solo tuba repertoire by becoming a good successor to the famous tuba concerto composed by Ralph Vaughn Williams.

John Williams conducted the Pacific Symphony in honor of the anniversary.

Jim Self is a freelance musician based in Los Angeles and has worked for all the major Hollywood studios performing for nearly 800 motion pictures and hundreds of television shows and records. Some of the film scores include Jurassic Park, Home Alone I & II, Hook and was the "Voice of the Mothership" from Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Mr. Self also uses: YCB-826 CC tuba, YCB-822 CC tuba,YFB-621S, and YEB-321S.

John Williams is known for his countless compositions, recordings and also as a world renown conductor. Some of his most famous scores include Star Wars, Indiana Jones Trilogy and E.T.
