Seminar: Gaining the Competitive Edge

Dr. Gustav Alink, a world-renowned expert on international piano competitions, will lead the seminar.

A noted author, Dr. Alink is founder and director of the Alink-Argerich Foundation, an independent worldwide information and service center for musicians and competitions.
WHAT: Two-Day Seminar on Participating Successfully in International Piano Competitions, November 22 and 23, 2004
  The first day of the seminar, November 22, will include:
 
  • A comparison of piano competitions worldwide
  • Discussion of the proliferation of piano competitions
  • Exploration of trends and changes over the years
  The second day of the seminar, November 23, will focus on useful competition strategies, including:
 
  • Repertoire selection
  • Specific advice on stage presence and presentation
  • Recommended behavior when visiting foreign countries
  • Suggested conduct when meeting with jury members, organizers, audience
  • members, managers and other contestants
  • Travel tips
WHEN: November 22 and 23, 2004, at 6:30 p.m., door opens at 6 p.m.
  This event is FREE of charge. Piano faculty and students throughout the New York metro area are welcome.
