The May 2004 issue of Musico Pro magazine reviewed the new YSS-475 soprano saxophone. Musico Pro is a credible source among Spanish speaking musicians for its educational and informative material on all aspects of the music industry. Musico Pro's critic Matt Zlaten describes his initial impression of the instrument "When you open up the case and see this instrument for the first time, the attractive finish is captivating." After being able to spend some time with the horn he describes "… I was truly impressed with the sound of the YSS-475… I recommend this for anyone who is looking for a good soprano saxophone at a reasonable price."

Features like a custom style Bb spatula facilitating in technique and increased player comfort, an adjustable thumbrest allowing for comfortable finger and hand positioning and tapered pivot screws allowing for smoother key action are just some of the features Mr. Zlaten was able to put to the test. "The YSS-475 has comfortable key action and is very well-balanced…". Other features of this model include a hi F# key, adjustable key guard felts for proper venting and intonation, and a gold lacquer finish.

It is no wonder that critics are shouting their praise about this new saxophone, it is not only the quality and wealth of features that Yamaha saxophones are known for, but also for their exceptional pricing "In this price range, Yamaha (saxophones) take the lead over European model saxophones."
