BUENA PARK, CA (April 22, 2005) — Yamaha Corporation of America, Piano Division, has released the first volume in its Watch & Learn instructional DVD series for its Clavinova CVP-300 line of digital pianos, entitled Exploring Voices, Styles, Effects and More. The video, produced as a follow up to the Quick Start DVD that’s included with the purchase of every CVP Series Clavinova, delves deeper into the operation, as well as the exciting features of the instrument.

Two of Yamaha’s top Clavinova specialists, Tom Folenta and Craig Knudsen, outline the step-by-step processes of the Clavinova’s many exciting features with a simple “how-to” approach that teaches users procedures via live demonstrations. The DVD, which features detailed, close-up images of which buttons to press and what to look for on the LCD screen, applies to the full series of Clavinova CVP-300 instruments, and is suited for beginner, intermediate and advanced players. Its convenient DVD format offers easy navigation, enabling users to skip to precisely the chapters they prefer.

“This video is an excellent learning tool for Clavinova enthusiasts of all levels,” says Jim Levesque, Clavinova Marketing Manager. “Tom and Craig do a tremendous job of showcasing and explaining the features of the CVP-300 series instruments. After exploring this DVD, users will be amazed at what their Clavinovas can really do.”

Chapter One discusses ways of “Getting Organized” using the instrument’s Preset, User, Card and USB/Floppy Disk Drive folders. In addition to working with the folders, the video demonstrates simple file operations such as Copy, Paste, Delete and Name. The “Voices” section explores the operation of presets, such as volume controls and voice types, and also covers changing the keyboard’s “split point” – the line of demarcation between dual voice types. It also shows users how to create modified sounds and specialty voices, such as custom organ settings, as well as how to edit voices using the Clavinova’s “Sound Creator.”

The “Styles” section helps users understand the instrument’s accompaniment capabilities, playing chords with accompaniment, and how to use the “Chord Tutor,” which employs the “Follow Lights” feature to instruct users on chord construction. This section also offers a tutorial on working with style parts in the instrument’s “Mixing Console.”

The DVD also includes an overview of the 2,300 songs accessible through Clavinova’s “Music Finder,” which is searchable by song name or title and explains such functions as harmony effects, tap tempo, slide effects, pitch bending, pedal functions, non-musical sound effects and much more. Folenta and Knudsen conclude the in-home product tutorial by showing users how to put it all together – by setting up to play an actual song with complete background effects and accompaniment.

It is slated for release in May 2005.
