The Yamaha Advantage™ Website Redesigned
BUENA PARK, CA (November 18, 2005) — Yamaha Corporation of America, Band & Orchestral Division, in conjunction with Sandy Feldstein Music and PlaylinTime Productions, Inc., has announced a redesign of The Yamaha Advantage™ band method website.
A recently revamped www.yamahaadvantage.com features a moderated forum, which creates a unique community of students, teachers and parents to discuss lesson plans, instrument performance how-to’s, practice strategies, innovative uses of The Yamaha Advantage books, and more.
The site offers exclusive, interactive Flash-based music education games, while an improved MP3 play-along track interface helps students get accompaniment files and “fun songs” much easier. Additionally, the files are now downloadable. Teachers can access music theory, history and other supplemental materials to complement the method books. Other features include a practice log, customizable assignments, fingering charts, instrument care instructions and assessment exercises.
“The Yamaha Advantage is the first band method to create a supplemental online community to enhance the learning experience of students,” states Jeff Hawley, Product Manager, Wind Instruments, Yamaha Band & Orchestral Division. “The website is designed to help students improve their musicianship and assist teachers in the implementation of this method. Most of all, it’s designed to be fun!”
The exclusive instruction method stresses musicianship by introducing correct note duration, line direction, proper phrasing, musical forms and musical terms. The systematic yet flexible approach, comprising books and an interactive website, is designed to focus students on developing embouchure, breath support and fingering, using classical music and proven technique studies from the great composers. Co-authors Sandy Feldstein and Larry Clark wrote the Primer Level, Level One and Level Two method books, as well as supplemental solo and performance material – all available for all wind and percussion instruments.
“The method is different because it emphasizes the importance of musicianship from the earliest stages of learning,” adds Hawley.
