Winning Performance
In the early rounds, contestants performed timed solos at all 183 Guitar Center stores. Winners of these competitions moved on to district-wide contests. The regional competitions crowned one winner each, all four of whom will meet in Los Angeles for the Grand Prize, worth over $40,000.

"Danny endured withering competition to win a great set of drums," said David Jewell, marketing manager, Yamaha Drums, Pro Audio & Combo Division. "He's obviously got the chops and the mettle to rise to the occasion and I congratulate him on a job well done."

Over 200 people packed the Guitar Center in Manhattan for the Drum Off's Regional Finals. All contestants performed on a Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute Nouveau set. Rodriguez, who hails from Hewlett, N.Y., wowed the crowd with his solo and walked away with over $12,000 worth of prizes, including his new Yamaha drum kit.

"The competition was fierce," said Tom Griffin, product specialist, Yamaha Drums. "All the drummers had unique styles and the Yamaha kit brought out their best. When I asked the crowd how the drums sounded, there was an enthusiastic cheer."
