Yamaha Adds to Acclaimed Xeno Line With New Bass Trombones

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Yamaha Corporation of America, Band & Orchestral Division, will debut its YBL-830 Xeno Bass Trombone and YBL-822G Xeno Bass Trombone at Winter NAMM 2007. The horns, designed with the assistance of key orchestral players and soloists throughout the world, are the newest addition to the world-class line of Xeno brass instruments.

Ideal for professional and semi-professional jazz and classical bass trombonists, the YBL-830 replaces the YBL-613H. Several improvements have been made, including redesigned slide crook material and slide braces that enable increased flexibility and quicker response. The valve rotor section has been updated to allow smoother airflow to the second rotor. A new thumb saddle provides comfortable playing, and an ABS Xeno-type case allows easy transport. The horn can easily be paired with a Xeno tenor trombone to form a well-rounded jazz and orchestral trombone arsenal.

"The YBL-830 refines a tried and true approach to inline independent rotors and gives players a consistent response throughout all registers," says Kurt Witt, Wind Instrument Marketing Manager. "Just as with the Xeno trumpets and trombones, Xeno bass trombones illustrate Yamaha’s design and manufacturing mastery."

Improving on the YBL-622, the YBL-822G provides a rich, projecting sound with a solid core and a wide spectrum of tone colors. Perfect for professional and semi-professional orchestral and jazz bass trombonists, a newly designed D-slide assembly provides improved response and removal of condensation, while the new convex, lightweight valve cap offers better control of slotting and projection. The compact, contoured ABS Xeno-type case comes equipped with a shoulder strap and side handle. The horn also comes with a Douglas Yeo Signature Series mouthpiece.

"The YBL-822G is a great example of the attention to detail prevalent throughout Yamaha wind instruments," notes Witt. "The subtle changes combine to provide a better playing and better sounding instrument."

The YBL-830 and YBL-822G are currently shipping.
