14 Celebrated Pianists Take to the Stage as 'The Concerto Takes Manhattan'

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Acclaimed pianists Konstantin Soukhovetski, Vassily Primakov, Nadejda Vlaeva and Matthew Cameron will perform at the premiere of the Concerto Takes Manhattan III, a special concert series running January 14th through June 3rd at the Yamaha Piano Salon in New York City. The 19-part concert series will feature 14 noted pianists performing 14 glorious concerti accompanied by a second piano playing the orchestra reduction. The series will kick off with three performances: January 14 & 28 and February 11 at 5 p.m.

The January 14 program will include: Haydn's Keyboard Concerto in D Major performed by Konstantin Soukhovetski, soloist and Vassily Primakov, orchestra; Chopin's Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise Op. 22 performed by Nadejda Vlaeva, soloist and Matthew Cameron, orchestra; The New York Premiere of Filtsch's Konzertstuck for Piano and Orchestra (1845) performed by Matthew Cameron, soloist and Nadejda Vlaeva, orchestra; and Mozart's Concerto No. 20 in D minor, K466 performed by Konstantin Soukhovetski, soloist and Vassily Primakov, orchestra.

The following works will be performed on January 28: Saint-Saens' Concerto No. 5 in F major, Op. 103 (“Egyptian”) performed by Konstantin Soukhovetski, soloist and Edvinas Minkstimas, orchestra; Schnittke's Concerto for Piano & Strings performed by Edvinas Minkstimas and Konstantin Soukhovetski; Prokofiev's Concerto No. 5, Op. 55 performed by Igor Lovchinsky, soloist and and Konstantin Soukhovetski, orchestra.

On February 11, the performances will include Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 4 in G minor, Op. 40 performed by Theresa Kim, soloist and Konstantin Soukhovetski, orchestra; Scriabin's Piano Concerto in F sharp minor, Op. 20 performed by Eleni Traganas, soloist and Michael Berkovsky, orchestra; and Tchaikovsky's Concerto No. 2 in G major, Op. 44 performed by Jerome Lowenthal, soloist and Igor Lovchinsky, orchestra.
