International Piano Competition Expert Drs. Gustav Alink Holds Two-Day Seminar at Yamaha Artist Services, Inc.

BUENA PARK, Calif. — World-renowned expert on international piano competitions, accomplished author and founder/director of the Alink–Argerich Foundation, Drs. Gustav Alink will share his broad base of knowledge with competition-bound piano students and teachers at Yamaha Artist Services, Inc. on March 14 and 15. Drs. Alink's two-day seminar will discuss the extent that prizes relate to career success and give examples of how pianists have fared pre- and post-competition.

The event will also include a special guest appearance by award-winning pianist and Yamaha artist Alexander Kobrin, who will offer his own personal view on how he dealt with the results of competitions and how he found his own path.

Gustav Alink is considered the world's leading authority on piano competitions. Encouraged by pianistic virtuoso Martha Argerich, Alink began his research of piano competitions in the early 1980s. Since then he has visited 300 piano competitions worldwide, published six books, and written more than 250 articles on this topic.

Drs. Alink is frequently an invited guest to major international piano competitions around the world. He has served on the jury for competitions in Europe, Japan, and the U.S. and given lectures on all continents.

In November 1999, he founded the Alink-Argerich Foundation (AAF) with Martha Argerich. The foundation aims to assist young musicians in the field of competitions and building careers (www.alink-argerich.org). Over 40 international piano competitions have joined AAF as member competitions.

The seminars will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, March 14 and 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the piano salon at Yamaha Artist Services, Inc., located on the 3rd Floor of 689 Fifth Avenue in New York City. Admission is free, and members of the public are encouraged to attend.
