Yamaha Introduces New Line of Concert Bass Drums

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Yamaha Corporation of America, Band & Orchestral Division, introduces its new and improved line of concert bass drums. Replacing the popular CB-840B, the CB-800C series offers a range of sizes, including the CB-832C 32-in. bass drum, CB-836C 36-in. bass drum and CB-840C 40-in. bass drum. These drums are an excellent choice for professional percussionists, as well as college level symphonies and orchestras.

This series produces a deep, rich sound with exceptional projection, due to its nine-ply maple shell with a darkwood satin finish. The addition of steel hoops creates precise and stable tuning to ensure a perfect sound that lasts. The line is equipped with Remo Nuskyn Heads.

"Sound design and quality were the top two drivers for the Yamaha product designers," said Troy Wollwage, Percussion Marketing Manager. "The addition of two more sizes, an anti-rotational slip measure on the stand, new noise control features on lug castings and tension rods and a maple shell truly make this concert bass drum an instrument that will be the only choice for professional percussionists."

Available for this series is an improved bass drum stand, along with accessories such as covers and drop cloths made of Cordura. The new stand features a locking mechanism with an improved rotatational mechanism allowing the drum to lock into one playing position. This new system enables the drum to have a firm grasp at any angle.
